Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432

Hi Kats,

Merry Christmas!  As Alan mentions, you can make nearly any size DCOE carb work with any engine due to their adjustable sub-componets, however; Weber does give recommendations for racing and street use. These are plotted below.

In parallel, many engine tuners over the past decades have published recommended configurations for the street. They generally recommend 40mm and 42mm for street for 2.4 to 2.6 litre engines.... so for a two litre, 40mm would lean more to the higher side.

According to the great DCOE tuner John Passini, he mentions in several publications that the transition from a small choke to a larger carb throat causes fuel to precipitate to the carb floor.  For example going from 32mm choke to a 40mm carb throat has less fuel precipitation than going from 32mm throat to 45mm carb throat.

Weber recommends that the ideal choke size for racing is ~ 80% of the diameter of the carb throat. So for a 45mm carb, a 36mm choke would be best.  This is a very large choke for street driving and give poor low rpm performance.

A lot of great data is at this site that Hoover and I love.. they use 82% ratio for Solex:  http://www.carry-back.com/CARRY BACK Carbu setting 2.htm

I visited a classic car shop yesterday , there is a Dec 1969 PS30-00062 . I felt this car is a good original car , a lot of original parts .

I immediately noticed the welding finishing touch of the radiator support upper L & R corner , this is what I call and love  “ hand crafted “ which is rarely seen in our mass produced S30 .

How many things can we list “ hand crafted “ treatment parts in our cars ? I would say the interior roof center trim piece for room lamp could be the one , my 03/1970 has two cut away for the defroster wires which would looked “ hand crafted “ cut away .

I guess my blue trim was made in early days and not ready to be considered as a car which have a defroster glass . Nissan would just make them a little too many blue trims .

My blue tail gate interior trim too , the pieces for the vent system is different from later vented one , those pieces can only be seen on an early trim in black . Blue and Tan could be interesting as parts to be used early parts into a bit later cars .

How about yours ?

Hi I found old pictures , those were in 2009 . Not clean like those pictures anymore today.  But I have been enjoying so much , no-regret for what I have been doing to my cars.

I wish there was a way to preserve the look of freshly yellow cadmium plated parts. But I wouldn't regret using your cars either.

I noticed these on HS30 00150 too! I thought it meant the car had been repaired before. So this is good to see and know about as being "normal".

The car has been in a nudge on the passenger side, but not enough to disturb the radiator support. The driver side is still as OEM as new.

Hi , I did some work recently. Checking the inside of the passing light switch of my Z432 and 240ZG , they both keeps good condition.

And I did an amateur job for the seat reclining mechanism cover which belongs to my elder Captain Shigekura, they were so badly missing tabs . Don’t look closely, I regret I didn’t took much more time for perfection, but Mr. Shigekura said it is OK about the results.

His 240ZG has been kept clean , original condition. He just replaced the seat upholstery and carpet which were done by the master , Mr. Sudo . With using  the original materials  Mr. Sudo customized them to give a little more stiffness ordered by Mr. Shigekura.
