February 25, 20205 yr comment_593153 Thanks Kats, I knew about the home market steering wheels being shallower than the export market cars. I agree it was likely for leg room. But I couldn't really tell in the photos. :). I didn't know about the horn button changes. I knew that there was "blue" (non 432 engined S30Z's) and "red" which this car had, but I didn't know about the horn icon. As you know our export market cars just had "DATSUN" on them. I couldn't see the keys property, buy my early 240z (HS30-00150) has a "garage" position on the ignition switch. Still not sure what that does? Do you know? What is the difference between early and later dashboards in the home market? I know North American cars had the hazard switch moved about, but AU market cars didn't come with hazards and the dashboard is basically the same from 1970-73. Gav240z, your 240Z has an unique holder, same as the picture and Z432 too. I think this holder was shared with SP/SR roadstar, was not it? In this picture, we see the wheel was for a SP/SR roadster because it has cap teeth ! For Z432 , if owner chose 5 magnesium wheels , the spare tire holder was chosen this (like a tap of fire pump) , shape of the center hub can not accept a dish holder which is used for a steel wheel. Some owner chose a steel wheel for the spare tire, to reduce price. My elder sister PS30-00087 has the tap holder, but slightly different from mine. The yellow Z432 is PS30-00013,my Z432 has same tap as 00013 (I added a rubber sheet I do not want to scrach center hub) . And my blue 1970 240Z. Kats I am fortunate to have this tire clamp for my 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z. February 16, 20214 yr comment_616251 Is there a disc as decribed above that is needed to use the 432 style clamp for the steel spare? if so, I am looking for a disc. January 14, 20223 yr comment_634222 It's very Z432-R or PS30-SB inspired. I'm looking forward to seeing how the tuning scene takes to these cars. With twin turbos I'm expecting them to be quite a popular thing. Edit: just saw others reference the 432-R also. @katsI think your photos make me appreciate it more than another couple of earlier photos I saw. The only critique of this car I have is regarding the hip lines. Which seem to be able to be drawn back to the 350z. The original S30z is very svelte through the waistline, where as the 350z/370z are quite wide in that area. I am not sure if it's a constraint of modern cars or a design choice. But I also own an FD3S RX7 and I just feel the S30z and FD are so similar in design approach. Both have feminine lines, but at the same time are quite muscular. Perhaps I will feel different when I see the new Z in person but I think it's the 1 thing I would change if I was lead design at Nissan. I otherwise think it's a great to see Nissan finally start to embrace what was so special about the early cars after years of moving away from it.
