April 3, 20222 yr comment_638907 @katsI wonder where you find such rare pieces? My blue interior - especially the plastics have faded to turn more green than blue. April 4, 20222 yr Author comment_638953 I checked room mirror basement of my 2146 and 2156 , they both have the same date on it . “ 0.2.7 “ I think it says 1970 February 7th. Also a horn contact plate , 2146 has “ 45. 2. 3.” 1970 February 3rd . Unfortunately 2156 lost the stamp , almost nothing I can read . It is so fun to look at , imagine old days of Nissan shatai factory . Not only Nissan shatai , each small part was made different manufacturers, interesting! April 20, 20222 yr Author comment_639521 Hi , I did a little bit for HLS30-2146 . Rear bumper removed, tried to straighten by rubber hammer and wood basement, I feel long way to be straightened . Today I want to show headlight cases which I am working on. Please see the pictures, I found 2146 has a steel type on the right hand side, so I am going to replace it with a plastic old one . You see the steel type has round corners on front edge , which is easily noticed from our view . What I want to say is , my 2156 has plastic type but they were NOS when the car was restored in 2000. And those NOS headlight cases are not showing sharp edges like the old originals . You can see the difference between the two, my 2156 and old original. This old original is sharpened by my hand a little bit more as I found it had a thick paint on it . I really love this pointy headlight case , how about you? I am imagining Tamura san agreeing with you. 'Sharp', like freshly-ironed creases in fabric. April 20, 20222 yr comment_639556 The edge on the headlight cases should be the same as the edge on the hood to look the best. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?&page=155#findComment-639556 Share on other sites
April 21, 20222 yr comment_639566 Hey Kats, I had a bumper restored by a company in Melbourne who were able to straighten it out really well, better than I could with a hammer/dolly. Photos before: https://www.viczcar.com/forums/topic/12896-wtb-rear-bumper-2-seater-s30z/?do=findComment&comment=176976 Photos after: https://www.viczcar.com/forums/topic/12896-wtb-rear-bumper-2-seater-s30z/?do=findComment&comment=186589 Originally I was going to put this back on my red 72 (HS30 10552), but it was too nice compared to the rest of the car. So I swapped the bumper off HS30 00150 onto the red car and have kept the restored bumper for HS30 00150 when that car is repainted. They did such a great job, I would not bother buying the aftermarket bumpers on offer. Instead I'd have them restore the originals! I think the finish is probably better than back in 1970. April 21, 20222 yr comment_639567 RE: Headlights, I assume the metal die used to cast the headlight buckets could not easily get that sharply defined edge on the headlight buckets the way an FRP mould could. So probably why they have a more "dull" looking edge. But to be honest I never would have noticed if it were not for you pointing it out! RE: Date stamps I love finding that stuff, problem is if you have those parts re-plated during restoration you lose the little factory stamps.. 😞 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?&page=155#findComment-639567 Share on other sites

I didn’t think about that, it makes sense to have the same edge on the bonnet. I will check it ! April 22, 20222 yr Author comment_639585 Hi Gavin , I see you have skills!! I want to do it like you , but maybe I can’t. Just give it a try. I will show you my progress of hammering bumpers and panels . Yesterday I took my 240ZG to my mothers home, 885km (550 mile) . I checked 606.2 km for 44.45 litters during daytime , 90 % on the high way .The fuel economy was 13.63 kilometers/ litter ( 32.08 miles /US gal) . Conditions were like this , Average speed 100km/h with 5th gear / 3.9 final gear Overall field elevation, I don’t know ,, but Japan ,a lot of mountains everywhere in a small landscape .Probably I was driving on a Slightly up and down road . Average temperature was 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees fahrenheit). Wind less than 10 knots, variable. Does my maths look reasonable ?
