It does not have the dimples for the air injection ports - smooth transition. I had it ceramic coated so that it would not rust. Hi Chris, I was thinking about “Her majesty “ , is she originally non- emissions type intake & exhaust? I believe you told me that before but my memory cannot be clear. Or only without fuel vapor system? By the way, I can’t find “ U98 “ models, I only found E98 which might be related your U98 .My parts catalog says E98 is a prefix for the parts of RS30 . I guess it’s exhaust manifold might have E98 on it . My non- emissions type exhaust manifold has “JAPAN E30 “ on it between No.5 and 6 pipes, and also has “ 1 “ between No.1 and 2 pipes . Also it doesn’t have any thread for bolts to retain the heat duct for the air cleaner. I saw “ 2 “ version for the non-emissions type , which has two threads for the bolts which is retaining the heat duct for the air cleaner. E30 exhaust was used for L20 and L24 without emissions devices. Yes my E30 exhaust has provisions for the air - injection pipes , but only basement. I see a Fairlady Z at the 1969 Tokyo motor show has the same exhaust manifold on it . I need to grind the unnecessary humps on the balance tube, to be looked like an early non emissions type ! If you really want 1, I am sure I could help. Or perhaps we could swap parts? Please feel free to send me a PM. Hi Gavin, I hope you will find the right pipe for your carburetors . It is nice to hear from you had same issue just like me . It seems to me it is not that special pipe , you will be able to buy it at your local “ home depo “ store , will not be ? Thank you so much for your offer about the radio , I need to make up my mind , I need to set the goal for my #2146 before asking you about it. It is very fun to think about how I want my cars to be . May 31, 20222 yr comment_641106 Kats, 26th came originally with air injection type emissions system but no fuel vapor recovery tank. I do not plan to install the air injection. I have the non-emission intake balance tube as well. 27th, on the other hand, will have the stock emission system when I get to rebuilding her. The one good radio I have will go to 27th. For 26th, I have the optional 8-track / radio. No problem @kats I am slowly working on restoring them and finding missing parts like the antenna switch that seems to always go missing. I bought 1 the other day but it was actually a later 260z/280z switch which is slightly different thickness (switch itself) and the mounting is a bit different. It could likely be used, but I would rather source another original switch. So they are not going anywhere at this stage. :). June 1, 20222 yr Author comment_641146 Thanks Chris, yea now I remember I have learned from you that some of very early US 240Zs don’t have a fuel vapor tank , but have an air injection system. I bought this pipes in July 2005 , at a local Nissan near my home . I was able to buy export 240Z parts there , good old days . June 1, 20222 yr Author comment_641156 I was expecting “E46 “ on the emissions type exhaust manifold , but it has “ E30” same as the non emissions type . I did dry fitting with a dual exhaust pipes which is an optional item for L-series engined car sold in Japan . Was this dual exhaust system available for overseas customers? Did Datsun competition department list this system ? Did Datsun competition department list this system ? @kats not as far as I'm aware.. Attached are scans of a manual I have on hand (which was a Sports Option Catalog) for Australian market owners. You can see the stamps on it show Australian addresses etc.. with the exhaust parts available in the catalog. I do not know of anyone who purchased this stuff sadly. But it's nice to think in the 70s you could buy any of this stuff. Other parts of the catalog show the cross flow LY head etc.. so I just oogle at it all and wish I could collect it all. :). I do have some parts to be fair, as I'm sure a few of us here do. June 2, 20222 yr comment_641186 You know? I have scans of that exact catalog also! The exhaust tube kit, 20000-E7276 shows up in my 1971 USA Datsun Competition Parts Bulletin as 99996-E1040, $180. That included mufflers but if you wanted the megaphone tail pipes, that was 99996-E1041 for $48. By 1973, the USA comp catalog # was 99996-E1045 and the megaphones were 99996-E1042. June 2, 20222 yr Popular Post comment_641187 Hear are some pictures of the exhaust manifold I found for 26th. This was just after I had it ceramic coated and I was testing the fit. It came with a metal shroud for the air filter pre-heater tube bolted to the manifold. That's what those tapped holes are for. It has full casting nipples. Yours were ground off, Kats! My thought about this manifold is that the flow and pressure is about the same as a set of custom headers. I read some report that dyno tested the cast manifold against the headers for the gain in horsepower. June 3, 20222 yr comment_641206 Lovely E4620 tubular manifold, Kats! Talking about the E7275 (later E7276) Race Option megaphone exhaust, a friend of mine owns this one.
