Maybe for jig attachment points before welding the body together? December 8, 201410 yr comment_460053 Although we thought for a long time that these bolt locations were part of the production process, these pictures show us that the cars were carried through the assembly process on cradles which supported the car from below. Alan T provided this picture of the mounting for the competition roll bar that Nissan homologated. I don't think the roll bar attached to the roof cross-member but the captured nuts on the sides are definitely roll bar. Greetings Kats, 26th and 27th are fine. Have not worked on them in a while. December 8, 201410 yr comment_460061 Hi, my Z432 came back home safely in late September. I am very happy the car had no scratch and no mechanical damage. After receaving my car I took my car to the photo studio right away. My Z432 wil be on a top cover "Nostalgic Hero" coming on Mar. 1st. I recently did small things that I was not able to finish before the ZCON. They are, #1 replacing door weather strips to E4100, I had later ones which I did not like the shape.#2 replacing correct old style butterfly wing bolt for the air cleaner box in front of the radiator.Looks like "micky mouse"#3 organize battery cables correctly using clips on the fire wall.#4 added vinyl tubes for the cowl top screws like factory instaled to prevent damge the cables and short circuit.#5 added rubber pieces on the top edge of the quater glasses.My car was missing them when I bought.#6 replacing exhaust bolts and nuts to S20 correct ones. #7 I found old licence plate bolts used in Japan back in 60's and 70's.They were in the tool box and could be used for my father's car when I was a kid.#8 Changed pilot jets from 55 to 57.5 this gives good torque and feelings. Now 180/135/57.5 for my Mikuni 40. I should have done these before the ZCON! Kats I want a Kats' autographed edition of the issue. January 25, 201510 yr Author comment_462438 Thanks everyone,the welded nuts are still misterious, however they seem to be for roll bar IMO.Alan told me the the distance between one nut and the other is exactly muches for a bracket of factory optional roll bar.But width between left two nuts & right two nuts is narrower than the roll bar's left & right vertical poles.If our car had the bars that attaches roof and floor , that would look stiff, but why have not ?I am thinking Nissan might allow the flexibility of the body structure , they would let the car's roof & pillers shake little bit rather than fixed otherwise the car would have crack in some area.What do you think of it?I will ask it to Mr. Uemura or Mr. Osawa , Mr. Miyazaki they will have some memories when they were testing S30 .Alan, did you enjoy chat with Mr. Osawa ? January 25, 201510 yr Author comment_462440 NOV 1969 S30 parts catalog The left dirty one has just arrived, I do not know why 'DATSUN' on top ! Some very interesting pictures are included, this very first Japanese parts catalog was my dream, recently I have got from Yahoo auction in Japan. Many pages are missing figure / diagram, i.e. the pages are blank. There is a note ' to be surplied soon' So you need to have a later version of the catalog to complete. I have been using MAR 1970 version, now looking at them side by side. February 13, 201510 yr Author comment_463453 240Z exhaust tip, Here is a NOS muffler for 240Z( S30) , 20100-E4100 . Nichira (Nihon Radiator ) logo are embossed on top , and there is " 92 11 " slightly right side of it, I guess this means manufactured in Nov 1992 . Nissan was kindly making for 20+ years old model's muffler at that time! My question is, is there "Nichira " on top since Oct 1969 ? Owners who still have original muffler can tell , please look at your muffler.
