Posted April 10, 200717 yr comment_205480 Make sure when you put it all back together that you use plenty of COPPER ANTI-SIEZE on all the bolt threads.I've been using this stuff called VersaChem Anti-Seize Thread Lubricant "Type 13" (whatever that means) on pretty much everything. Is that the stuff to use? I used to use KopperKoat but I haven't been able to find that in the last ten years. I loved KopperKoat. It held up even in marine environments. Seems like the versa chem is pretty much the same stuff. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23911-thread-lubricant/ Share on other sites
April 10, 200717 yr comment_205481 I use this: Permatex Anti-Seize Lubricant A highly refined blend of aluminum, copper and graphite lubricants. Use during assembly to prevent galling, corrosion and seizing and to assure easier disassembly. Temperature range: -60°F to 1600°F (-51°Cto 871°C). Salt, corrosion and moisture resistant – ideal for marine use. Non-aerosol version meets Mil Spec #907E. Aerosol - Level 3* Chris A. April 10, 200717 yr comment_205487 There are many excellent products available, including the one ChrisA pointed out. I just haven't tried them yet because I've been trying to use this up first. Bought this can about 15 years ago and use it for everything. Never had a problem taking anything apart again no matter what environment the fasteners have gone through. Sub zero to extreme high temps. and wet conditions. This can is still more than half full. You might want to consider a smaller size.
