wow what a nice z! about how much would it cost to fully resore one? iv got a 74z and currently working on it to get it back onto the streets. thanks

Agreed......A good bodyman is almost impossible to find (one that doesn't cut corners). This type of resto is very expensive.......You can find people that do decent work for 1/4 of what this will cost. You've got to have the disease, and I've had it since my first 240Z......and it's only getting worse!

ohh wow! btw i think im comming to it, but im very new and dont know much about fully restroing a car. what would you tell a beginner on his first restro z?

Dustin....Start with the simple things that you can do.......Start at the front and work back. Remove,clean and replace every item you can. Also get some Z books from Motorsport....they have them all. Good Luck!

thanks! hmm well i took the car appart, and patched some holes im working on the engine, got her to start, hmm may be i shoudl show u some pics. should i start a new thrend just like u?

Here are a few more pics the body guy sent. The car is wrapping up. The engine bay and door jams should have paint within a few weeks. All the car needs now is an original dogleg for the passenger side.

Note the body gaps. This guy is truly a perfectionist. He even drilled out the spot welds on the master cylinder access door latch. I assume it didn't line up perfect after the gapping was done. So he will move it slightly. The guy is an artist.

Chuck has too many wrecked 911's in his shop (he does my car when he's slack) They're working on the details now.....headlight buckets, front valance and corner pieces. We gave him a passenger side dogleg from an AZ car that he's getting ready to weld in. The seats just went to an A+ upholstery guy. New OEM type seat covers, new foam inserts and strapping and new door panels. Will post pics when we have something of interest. Believe me......I'm getting ansty!

Some more photos of my dads resto for your viewing pleasure. Sorry for the quality of some of these (cell phone). The shutter on my rebel xt died. A new Canon 40D will be the replacement within a week so all new photos will be even better

You can see the car is in primer and Chuck is cutting out the old dogleg to replace with the one from Arizona. The detail shows the inside of the new/used part after the spot welds were removed to separate the inner/outer

Final work is being done replacing the passenger dogleg. After this she will be blocked and ready for final paint

My dad and I ran into each other downtown this past Sunday and took a few photos of the two 72's. He took the last two photos of his Z with my camera.

The dogleg repair by Chuck is just amazing.....he removed each piece of the good dogleg and spot welded it piece by piece onto the car.....just like new with "0" rust! The last picture of the green 72 I think is my all-time favorite picture. Chuck should be shooting paint soon, but he works at his own pace. He's a true artist! Brandon's new camera is just amazing.
