Posted April 22, 200717 yr comment_206884 The time has come to put an end to the worlds longest engine build! I have actually started assembly on my 3.1L stroker! WHOO HOO! Actually this morning my wife helped me put the head on the block. Right now I am putting together the timing chain, but I have noticed a couple of differences between my turbo, F-54 , block and the regular block that is used in the "How to Rebuild your Datsun OHC Engine". First of all the regular block has a chain oiler that sticks out from the block and obviously oils the chain. As far as I can tell there is no provision for this on my block. Does anyone know how the chain gets oiled on this block? Second, the book says to use the gasket that came in the kit between the chain tensioner and the block. However, there is no gasket that fits the tensioner in either the whole engine gaseket set or the timing chain kit. Should I just use the same silicone sealer that I used on the rear main? You can reply to me directly if you want. Thanks for the help in advance!Pete SprengerSkiWaNow@comcast.net Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24050-timing-chain-on-f-54-turbo-block/ Share on other sites
