April 22, 200717 yr comment_206917 I need a new one as well...figured that I would work on the rear end of my'73 first then tackle the front. This guy is selling one on Ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=290106174526&rd=1,1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-206917 Share on other sites
April 23, 200717 yr Author comment_206933 The other question is should I go with the outer tie rod ends that MSA lists or get the Nissan ones? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-206933 Share on other sites
April 23, 200717 yr comment_206955 I have just installed one of the new racks from MSA. It is a perfect fit, and perfectly tight and accurate in its feel. Keep in mind it is not a Nissan part, but made to replace the nissan rack. The inner "rack" is smaller in diameter than the factory nissan unit and thus uses it own inner tie rod ends (which it comes with) It is also noticably lighter than the factory rack. I say it is great, and am very glad I bought it Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-206955 Share on other sites

May 18, 200717 yr comment_209998 I just wonder why the guy on eBay thought he could sell his for $75 more than MSA if indeed it was the same one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-209998 Share on other sites
May 19, 200717 yr comment_210049 just as a number game the MSA rack is 334+ tax, and to have your steering rack rebuilkt with around 2 day turn around time, is around 150. So, make your choice ( I do say, that getting new inner tie rods is a nice addtition.) May 19, 200717 yr Author comment_210058 I wasn't able to locate any reliable rebuild services when I was shopping, well any rebuild services at all. The places I contacted were happy to sell me a rebuilt one but weren't interested in rebuilding mine. Having gone through 2 rebuilt ones from local parts places in the past I wasn't interested in going that route again. Both were sloppy from the start the last one was terrible.I was going to rebuild my own but ran into a lot of problems trying to get parts for it, some were no longer available and some were on back order for months. The inner tie rod ends were worn and there was a noticable amount of play around the rack end bushings. I had my old rack completely torn down and the bushings out of it but finally gave up on getting parts.A search when I was shopping turned up not a lot of hopefull information:http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21142&highlight=steering+rack+rebuildhttp://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7440&highlight=steering+rack+rebuildSince I'm sure others will run across this thread later when searching for info on them post up good sources for rebuilds Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-210058 Share on other sites

If i need a new rack i Will go to MSA Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-217177 Share on other sites
August 1, 200717 yr comment_217221 I bought one and I love it. I incorporated the purchase with new struts, springs, bushings and rack...Wow I love the way the car handles. A bit too tall...looks like a 280z, but fun. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24054-new-msa-steering-rack/#findComment-217221 Share on other sites
