Heater/blower not working. .

Well, another problem is happening. I can't get the blower to work for me. I replaced every fuse in the fuse box behind the center dash with new fuses, all correct. But, it just won't work. I was hoping someone here might have some ideas of where to start to figure this out. The AC comp is still on the car, and the heater seems to have been replaced. So, any ideas?

in line holder? Please excuse my stupidity but what do you mean? Where can this fuse be found on my 73'? Is it near the blower itself? What amp is the fuse? by the way, thanx for all the other help in my other threads Escanlon. U honestly help out a lot of people on here! I tip my hat to you sir.

There are 2 in-line fuses to the right of the stereo. One is for the heater\accessories and I am not sure about the other one. Sitting on the ground next to the passenger opened door look just behind and to the right of the steree. There should be a series of wires that connect from the fuse to the harness, in that series of wires, you will find the 2 fuses. White fuse holders. Both of mine were melted, but still slightly working.

Hopefully Ramses described the in-line fuse holders well enough for you to find them.

Attached is a pic of the in-line fuse holder for the Fuel Pump. If you look at the fuse box in the background, the white "hook" things are the holder for the in-line fuse holder.

The fuse rating for the blower is 20A per the wiring schematic.

Another project suggestion for Zs-ondabrain... electrical hero in training

Epoxy in a modern U-shaped spade fuse into the T-Shaped 2 spade Z electrical connector similar to the external to internal voltage regulator conversion connector. Plug that into the picture above with a dab of dielectric grease...

Why do that? Fuse holders for the modern fuses are readily available and easily spliced in.

I am going to guess it is the accessory relay on the right hand foot well kick panel. If you jumper the white red wire to the red blue wire at the accessory relay and then turn your key to on the fan should run. If it does replace the relay. There is a miss print in the wiring diagram. This fall I will get the time to post the correction.

Ramses, I'll check but not sure.

There are typically TWO styles of this fuse puller.

One is the black one provided with the car. The other is the bright yellow one found amongst the replacement fuses in the auto store. The black one is "OEM" for lack of a better word (I don't know if it is or isn't, so save the bandwidth, but it IS the one that I've seen in the majority of fuse boxes.), whereas the yellow one is Boss' tool.

I'll check if I have one in the spares, but the black one was kind of thin and prone to breaking.

GreenZ's suggestion may have merit once in-line fuse holders are no longer readily available, but AFAIK, in-line fuse holders are plentiful and easily found in most hardware stores that carry any amount of electrical items. Radio Shack who has progressively moved away from the build-it-yourself market of the mid-70's carries them on their shelves / parts drawers, which shows their common demand. If nothing else contact your local auto stereo installer.
