Posted April 27, 200717 yr comment_207381 hi guys.i've done the wheel option to death and i thank you all.now for the front spoiler dilema.they are alot cool z's with a more modern front spoiler or airdam's (to you u.s dude's) but is there anything out there a bit more retro and period.i know the first thing that spring's to mind is the bre spook style spoiler which i really like.however is there difference's with supplier quality because some don't look as great as others in the pics? look at the difference?is it color, angle or make?(no offence to owner of nice red zed!) April 27, 200717 yr comment_207400 I'm planning on getting a spook later this summer. I've looked into this as well, and have come to the conclusion that while there are more than a couple small shops cranking out this style, I will buy mine from Classic Datsun Motorsport. They have the original BRE mould, and the consensus is that theirs are a bit better fit than most. That's not to say that there aren't others that fit OK too. Several people have indicated that the ones from MSA aren't bad either, which I believe are made by Showcars Bodyparts. The MSA spooks are on sale right now for $100.Last part of the equasion is the condition of the valance you are attaching it to. If that's not straight, the spook is going to warp and twist when it's attached. That may be the issue with the red car pictured above, might not be the fault of the spoiler. April 27, 200717 yr comment_207401 My spook, and all the fiberlgass on all of my race cars are from Classic Datsun. They are the only supplier with authorization from Peter Brock to replicate the spook. April 27, 200717 yr comment_207406 I have a Xenon front spoiler which I haven't had installed but I selected this because they look old school and won't make the car to front end heavy. April 27, 200717 yr comment_207413 I have the MSA spoiler and have been VERY happy with it. The difference in front end stability at 70 mph is huge. It was even noticeable at slower speeds down to 40. I would suggest that adding a spook should be one of the FIRST improvements done for the early S30 cars.I suspect the BRE may be a better quality unit - you just have to decide if the extra cost is worth it to you. April 27, 200717 yr comment_207425 I will either leave mine in black gel-coat or paint it black at first. Later when I paint the car I will paint it to match.Other than that, I haven't seen anything else of the period-style I like. I do know where there is an NOS Kamei air dam, but it's not an attractive unit in my opinion. April 27, 200717 yr comment_207435 <---big fan of the black BRE spookDitto, but they look good painted as well and from what I hear, will do the job intended well, no matter what your color preference is. April 27, 200717 yr comment_207438 FWIW, on my silver car, I have decided to leave it black for 2 reasons:1) it's less noticeable that way - I prefer to keep it looking as stock on the outside as possible.2) it's easier to not paint it.That said, if I was to repaint my car, I'm pretty sure I'd paint it while I was at it.
