Posted May 1, 200717 yr comment_207912 In another post I got good advice to keep the 280 engine out of my 76' 280.That way I will have another engine if the 240 in my 72' goes bad or if I get bored and want another project that week. However, what else should I scavage from the 280 for the 240? How about the transmission or the electrical crap? Finally, what to do with the 280? Hate to take it to the wrecking yard.Anyone want one for heap cheap, say $ 500.00? One owner z. May 1, 200717 yr comment_207913 Why don't you keep the tranny, too? That'd give you a five-speed, and it would bolt right up to your existing L28. May 1, 200717 yr comment_207916 why not just pull out the tranny and engine as one and swap it straight out? also, i'd keep the fuel tank and electrical harnesses and swap the EFI over to the 240. but that's just me.... May 1, 200717 yr Author comment_207931 When bre-240Z said it was a 5-speed tranny, flags went up.It is a 4 speed and a 1975 model year coup. I was so wrong! How does that affect the above thoughts? Now it seems best to pull the engine and tranny as one unit, pull the wiring harness, but why the gas tank?
