I would be careful using Tygon tubing. When exposed to fuel and oils over extended time periods it expands, doubles or triples its original size, completely loosing its shape gets sticky where exposed. I have not seen it burst but, have seen it collapse and seal it self off. I would still use a more rigid hose that is rated for gas, fuel and oils. I do not believe the cost savings out weigh the risk of hidden fuel problems later.

Thaf is the first time I have heard anything like that, I have several friends(who own an Industrial Repair shop) that race and they have the stuf under their own hoods that hasn't been changed in ten years or more with no issues-they are the guys that turned me on to it...granted there are probably 30 types of tygon. 240ZX mentioned clear tubing but hls30 shows something that is yellow.

The hose I mentioned earlier is boat vent hose. (Fuel vent) According to the supplier it is OK for exposure such as the side vent hose. It was slightly thicker than the original Z hoses.

I follow your recommendations to fix the vent system of my 72' 240z.

Thanks a lot for your write-up The Z doesn't smell fresh gas anymore inside.

However, I did not purchase the horse shoe hose and I had some problem to find a fuel rated substitute. None of the marine or truck shop got this hose. I put a regular hose for now but since it's not difficult to change, I 'll do it later, as soon as I have a chance in the next few years

By regular hose I pray you didn't use heater hose ! Try Nappa they have the fuel hose . Gary

For the horse shoe hose, I'm not sure about what I've put to be honest. I'm afraid it's heater hose.

Anyway, I'm not going to keep it on the car for a while (I said years, It might be weeks). Winter is here, the car will be in the garage for a little while (many other things to fix). I'll order the hose from Nissan or any boat shop as soon as I have an opportunity

I bought my generic fuel rated hoses from Napa already, they were not able to supply me the right hose for the horse shoe hose

In 2002 I did that and have had no problem. I can provide pics for those interested.

I removed my evap tank years ago and have not had any problem. Do a search there has been several threads over the years on how to do this properly, Gary

Just an update. Picked up my vent hoses as recommended by Arne. Prices have gone up from Arne's purchase date. 17239-E4601 is now $36.35, and 17235-E4601 is now $71.22. I got the Z club discount on these parts too. Who knows, you all might pay less or more depending on your location. I'm getting the long hose from Napa.

Those are list prices according to nissanparts.cc, not discounted at all. The prices at that site are very similar to the discounted prices I got from my local dealer. Time to ask your dealer about his Z Club "discount".

For reference, the fuel tank ventilation connection tubes measure

• 10mm - front right hand side of tank
  
• 14mm - left hand side of tank
  
• 17mm - rear right hand side of tank
  

This was the only thing I found missing in this reference thread.
