Elect Fan Wiring?

With relays, you can do both, just put them in parallel. I did it that way on my '72 when it had Air Conditioning. If the engine was hot, the fan came on. If I kicked in the AC, the fan came on.

For temp, you can mount one of these temperature sensor/switches underneath your top radiator hose. http://www.perma-cool.com/Catalog/Cat_page19.html

I had a power relay as well so it only came on only when the ignition was on.

Most modern cars with electric fans have them wired so that they will continue to run as needed even with the ignition off. This is to assist in cool-down. I don't know if this is really necessary in the case of a Z, but it's something to consider.

But if you do wire it so it will run with the ignition off, I'd buy the best quality relay you can find, not the cheap $3.99 unit. You don't want the relay to stick and run the fan until the battery dies.

Yep, modern cars have a temperature sensor somewhere in the cooling system. It reaches a specific temp and kicks on the fan. If the sensor goes bad and your girlfriend never pays attention that the fan isnt running and then one day at 60 mph on the highway the head gasket fails because the head is warped so bad it looks like a wavy potato chip.......

Thanks Arne for bringing that memory back! ROFL
