BSR valvecover on EBay, wowzers!

Recommended Posts

That much money for a valve cover-I 'd have to say the guy is either a ricer(cosmetic part only) or seriously into Z history(significant becuase of what it is and what it represents). I bet he's a member-ricers want new and gaudy, not old and nostalic.

Really there were only 8 bidders and it appears as though a bidding war broke out between 2 of them with a third bidder throwing fuel on the fire. Too bad we don't have a clue to who was bidding. I hate that about eBay these days. As Will pointed out, we can't even tell if it went to a good home or if it stayed in the country for that matter.

The selling price is way too much.

Rest assured, everyone, that as an expert (and I'm certain the commander will back me up on this) I can tell you all with complete confidence that the valve cover is an aftermarket item. Furthermore, it is used.

But what great entertainment!

Bidding on it for me got knocked off around the $500 point. I know it's aftermarket but there aren't that many out there and it is a unique little piece to have. I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled on EBay.

I wouldn't have even paid $500 for it. That's the kind of thing that you just have to luck up on in the junkyard. That's how I found my '2400' valve cover and a JDM 'NISSAN' valve cover among other things. To the junkyards, they're just valve covers. Ten bucks or less. I sold the JDM cover to a kid for $100 bucks a couple of years ago without even cleaning it up. Over $2k, that's just ridiculous!

These things were $120 new out of the BSR catalog who knows how long ago. You probably could make a profit if you were able to recast them and sell them for $300-$500 apiece depending on how many you made.
