Posted May 8, 200717 yr comment_208826 I was at the u-pull-it the other day and found an original spare tire from a 240Z on the steel rim. It is in excellent condition. Tire is not dried out or cracked. Is there any value in this? For now I will keep it as my spare or should I seal it up to preserve it's condition. Or are they a dime a dozen and I shouldn't worry about it at all. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24260-just-courious/ Share on other sites
May 8, 200717 yr comment_208830 Well, theres MoPars out there with original rubber on them and I hear those are rare. Some Plymouth SupereBirds and Dodge Daytonas have NOS rubber put on them that were part of a parts hoard someone scored Some pics ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24260-just-courious/#findComment-208830 Share on other sites
May 8, 200717 yr comment_208831 Carefully stamp "Bob Sharp Racing" and a bogus Nissan part number "99998-BSR46" on the wheel center. Make up a story about finding this in the trash pile at Lime Rock. Put it on eBay and make a few thousand on the deal. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24260-just-courious/#findComment-208831 Share on other sites

May 8, 200717 yr comment_208861 Depends on the exact Brand and Type...In "as new" condition, with the mold nipples still there:If it's from a 69 production or very early 70 car - $175.00 to $250.00 {175R14Bridgestone Super Speed 20 on a 69 production rim for example might be worth $250+ to the right person. 175R14 Bridgestone RD-150 somewhat less.} All depends on who is bidding and how many they already have}If it's from a car produced between 6/70 and 1/71 - and if it's the right Brand and Type..$125.00 to $150.00.If it's a Toyo Radial Z-1 - $75.00 to $125.00...Depends on the exact Brand and Type... and when it's offered on E-Bay...FWIW,Carl B. May 8, 200717 yr comment_208868 What Carl said. Values will be a lot less if it's been visibly used, though. If nothing else, the original narrow wheels and tires are the only things that fit properly in the 240Z spare tire well. I had a 5 1/2" in my yellow 240Z when I got it, and a 6" in the red 240Z. Neither fit, the spare tire cover sits above the floor. I got a slightly scruffy stock 4 1/2" with an 80% 175HR14 Michelin XAS with my parts car, and that is now in my red car. I'd actually love to have one like you found with a nice original tire on it. But it's still not high on my list right now. The wheel should have a date code stamped on it, near the word 'TOPY'. Will also have the size, either 4 1/2 or 5" wide. May 9, 200717 yr Author comment_208932 Hey Carl, it is an RD-150. I was more amazed at how well perserved it was. Usually tires that old are cracked and dried out to some degree. I also got the door panels off the car as well. They are in excellent condition with no rips at all. Just the chrome strip is gone. It always amazes me when I find an old Z with so many great condition parts sitting in a junkyard. Even the tail lights looked brand new. Of coarse I took them too. Along with the round top SU's and manifold. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24260-just-courious/#findComment-208932 Share on other sites
