AndysPlit Posted May 10, 2007 Share #25 Posted May 10, 2007 ...crap. I think I'm looking at a Sentra now. That would best suit my needs and budget. I'll spice it up with the SE-R, or 200SX versions.
CoastGuardZ Posted May 10, 2007 Share #26 Posted May 10, 2007 ...crap. I think I'm looking at a Sentra now. That would best suit my needs and budget. I'll spice it up with the SE-R, or 200SX versions. I had an '86 2dr and loved it. My wife's is an '05 and we love it. We bought it new for just $13,800. It's the special edition so it has a different fascia, a spoiler, 16" alum wheels and the Rockford Fosgate stereo... which rocks! The mpg on the sticker was 31/34 we average closer to 35 mixed and the last time I took it to DC I got 39. Same body style (B15) and drivetrain from like 2000 to 2006. It now has 30k on it and zero issue. The 1.6 in previous models was a reliable engine and the SE-R had the SR20 . Anyway... good cars. Good luck in your car search... My 2 cents Nate
AndysPlit Posted May 10, 2007 Share #27 Posted May 10, 2007 Thank you. I am probably in the market for something in the mid to late 90's. Actually, my first car was an 83 Sentra station wagon. My father owned a 94 model and that car had a lot of kick four a Sentra. It was the base model too. They are very reliablle cars. I suppose I'm fretting because it is not a Z. Well, you're all right about the DD concerns. It needs to be in this caliber I agree.........a Maxima would be nice, but they are not as economical. mars23z Posted May 10, 2007 Share #28 Posted May 10, 2007 Remember the Nissan Stanza? I had one that I sold to my grand pa is has almost 300,000 on it still runs to
AndysPlit Posted May 10, 2007 Share #29 Posted May 10, 2007 Yes, I think that eventually became the Altima. Remember the second generation Pulsar with the quasi-camper shell? That was one odd looking car but kind of cool. You don't see those around anymore. Remember the Nissan Stanza? I had one that I sold to my grand pa is has almost 300,000 on it still runs to
mars23z Posted May 10, 2007 Share #30 Posted May 10, 2007 The pulsar nx i forgot about that. Those were pretty cool back in the day. If you could find one that would make a fun DD
AndysPlit Posted May 10, 2007 Share #31 Posted May 10, 2007 I believe that was the "sport" version of the Sentra or Sunny as it is known in Japan and elsewhere. The pulsar nx i forgot about that. Those were pretty cool back in the day. If you could find one that would make a fun DD

AndysPlit Posted May 11, 2007 Share #35 Posted May 11, 2007 I think they are great cars in their own right. Especially the turbo version. However, a lot of enthusiasts regard the Z31 as the neglected cousin of the line. They strayed even further away from the original idea of the 240Z with it's refined comforts, styling, and price for the time. Also it was criticized for not being innovative in the performance arena and some have even called it "an underpowered slug". Although I do not think these ZX's are slouches, they did lose the soulful appeal that the earlier Z's had in my opinion. Funny, I recall reading about the Z31 in a classic car book. It was written by an Englishman ( they still can't get over how Z's wiped the MG's out in the US ) and it started with these words: "History will probably not be so kind to the Nissan 300ZX." However, the damn thing still made it into the book so go figure. Despite all mentioned, I wouldn't pass one up at the right price. They still have "cool" factor. I think upon release of the Z32, that really reinvigorated what was supposedly missing from the Z in the last few years. The Z32 is one hell of a car. But that's a different story. i dont know why some people dis like the 80s 300zx so much if you ask me its a great car.good for every day driving. SportBikeMike Posted May 11, 2007 Share #36 Posted May 11, 2007 I don't know what it is but for some reason I prefer having a truck for a daily driver....even though they're not that economical and really not that good in snow (unless its a 4X4). Maybe it's just refreshing to have a DD where I'm high off the ground unlike the sports cars.
