Posted May 9, 200717 yr comment_209037 Hello all,I have a quick question regarding Tokico springs and shocks. I have an 1982 280ZX 2+2 and wanted to get Tokico springs and shocks for it. I found a kit on ebay for all four corners (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKICO-HP-SHOCKS-NISSAN-280ZX-79-83-BEST-PRICE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQihZ006QQitemZ160115090679QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) but the guy says that they will only fit the 2 seater. However, on the Tokico website (http://www.hitachi-hap-la.com/TokicoGasShocks/app/19a.html) there is no mention of a difference between the 2 seater and the 2+2.Personally I cant see why there would be a difference, but I dont really want to buy them and have them shipped to Australia just to find out they dont fit (especially as we didnt get the 2 seater over here). Thanks for any help anyone can give me.Hayden Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24280-tokico-springs-and-shocks/ Share on other sites
May 11, 200717 yr comment_209228 Hi Hayden, I had the same problem when I put my 73 240Z back together. The engine did look like it was out of the car. I had the car alligned, and the toe was way out. After the toe was fixed, the car settled out and the front end looked normal. I have Tokicos on my car, and I don't know of any difference either. I would go with what Tokico says about their shocks. I have found many errors on ebay about Z related parts. I bought mine from Motorsport Auto in Califronia. It might be worth emailing their tech guys and see what they say. I hope this helps. May 11, 200717 yr comment_209237 Hayden - I have the Tokico HPs on my ZXT 2+2, but with Eibach springs, and am very pleased with the results. I do recall encountering the same concerns about fitment on the 2+2 model, but decided to try anyway. I purchased my setup from Charlie Osborne of Zedd Findings, because he is local to me, but I believe he sourced the parts from MotorSports Auto.GWGarrard Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24280-tokico-springs-and-shocks/#findComment-209237 Share on other sites
May 11, 200717 yr comment_209238 Hayden,Email Tokico and ask them the question-I would think there would be a difference because of the weight difference between the coupe and the 2+2 and the fact that the load capacity is different(two more full seats ads more weight). If you don't use the back seats....Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24280-tokico-springs-and-shocks/#findComment-209238 Share on other sites
May 12, 200717 yr comment_209343 Here are a couple shots of my FSM regarding the shocks. The dimensions are the same for the two versions, but the compression/expansion measures are different. If you want other pages, let me know, but this one page (split in two for easier viewing) pretty much covers it.
