Why not go to a good auto paint supplier and get some of that clear adhesive backed laminate used by many new car manufacturers made for the purpose of a rock guard. It is probably made in different mil weights depending on application. I wish I could be more specific as to suppliers or part numbers, but that would be my first choice over the mud guards.

My red car came with polished stainless mudguards when I bought it. Maybe they were added late in the car's life, but they didn't seem to prevent any paint damage down there - my car has plenty. So I removed them, and I prefer the look of the car without.

I think they serve a purpose if they are large enough, but the silver realy stands out too much - plain black would be less noticable and look fine on a red or orange Z.

Just an opinion - I am thinking about it for mine as well.

Polished, pretty, but-no, flat black, maybe!

It would not draw as much contrast from the bodyline if it blended with the tire, and then it wouldn't alter that flawless appearance you have!

My vote is no too. To me, they kind of look like something you'd see on a rally car, but if you like the way they look, then that's what matters.

Arne, it looks like those were poorly made or poorly mounted. Good move removing them. They didn't appear to stick out far or low enough to do any good anyway.

Anyone know how that bumpy protective surface is applied on the rocker panels of newer cars. Is it painted on or is it an appliqué of some sort? And lastly, is it done before or after the car is painted?
