Emerald Green Fairlady Z Badge !

Heh,

I saw this on Ebay the other day and thought they only came in White color.

I know some were repainted Red by owners but this one came from the Factory :) .

It also looks like a Orange wheel center cap I have that I think was for a 280z or 280zx, so I'm thinking they were both made around the same time maybe cause the paint is the same.

Does anyone know about these Green ones and if theres any other colors out there.

Heres the Link to the Auction Description and 6 pics I included below.

Green Fairlady Z Badge Emblem

And More pics of the center cap if you know what it goes to.

Thyanx Yahh ^_^

68305-E4100 is the part number for the standard white 'Z' Fairlady Z side emblem. If there had been a green 'Z' version, then it would have been given a different part number to differentiate between it and the white version. But since there was no green version, this was obviously not necessary.

Somebody has been at your emblem with a pot of Testors and a fine brush, I should think..........

And the eBay vendor might well be convinced that this emblem is made from "aluminum", but it is actually made of 'Mazak' or 'Pot Metal'.

Those wheel centres in your pictures are sitting 180 degrees inverted, by the way. The shorter horizontal on the letter 'Z' should be on top.

i DON'T KNOW, I seen some other '"Glitter Centers" painted the same color on Ebay this week. And the dude who sold the Emblem sounds like he seen that kind befor I'll give him a ask and see what story he tells.

Now that we know they have the same part number it may be possible by chance that they ran out of paint on a certain day and had to subsitute for a different color.

I know thats what they used to do to Lionel Toy Trains back in the 1920's through 1950's.

When they ran out of color for a certain train car, they used a different color or a diluted version of the normal color untill new paint supplies came to the factory resulting in rare anomolous colors and shades.

And at the same time the toys must have kept the same part numbers seeing as how the change was never planed.

LOL. That scenario made me chuckle. "Gadzooks, no more white paint in the pot! Maybe some of this here metalflake green will do? Sure, nobody will care about that - especially as these are just genuine Nissan spare parts that are not attached to a car. Maybe the unsuspecting buyer might get lucky and find the green goes well against that 920 Safari Gold......"

Well, you can believe what you want. You can even believe your eBay seller if you want.

Over and out...........

HAHAAA :)

No doubt H,

Jus another one of those far flung Ideas I had, but appearently though that

really did work for Lionel in order to keep the asseambly line going.

But heh, you never know, those rare trains are worth lots of money today.

The parts box does seem to be the current genertion design style and my

Aunts 2005 Nissan Sentra SE does have similar grey metallic flake paint.

Had it been an old box style I would really doubt it too as I never seen a datsun with metal flake of any kind.

I remember asking if a 10,000RPM Tach was factory or after market.

The first few replies were pretty sure they after market then I got a Nostaglic Hero Vol.84 April 2001 magizine in the mail with a 240ZG parts feature article inside it.

Still didn't say if it was factory or not though :hurt: :ermm: but I also came across a 11,000RPM tach for sale one day also.

Speaking of "green"...I ordered a new hard line for the clutch hydralic system for my 73 240-Z. The Nissan replacement part was coated with a green coating of some kind. Not the usually Yellow Cad plating... I checked with another owner of a 73 and he said he got the same part... with the same green a year or two earlier...

Just though it was odd... anyone else have any experiences like that with any other parts?

The Tachometer on page 73 of Nostalgic Hero Vol.84 is the 432 / 432-R version for use with the S20 engine ( part no. 24855-E4200 ). You can see a close-up pic of one in my Gallery. Nothing mysterious about it.

The 11,000 rpm Tachometer you spotted on Yahoo Japan auctions was a re-calibrated 'normal' version - as used in most L-series engined cars - and had a re-painted and then screen-printed face. There's a small one-man shop in Japan that produces these, with a long turnaround time.

Thyanks HS :)

Glad you narrowed that down, I can't exactly read Japanese yet ^_^

I love the 432 and happy to see it had it's own tach!

I got a response from the badge seller. Heres what he had to say,

"Hi, I heard there is actually a red variant Z too but that's hear-say from the same people I bought this from. I can't vouch for its authenticity personally as I bought it from a local after market import shop here in the valley and basically just going by there word. Maybe they painted or someone did along the way but it looks great on my gunmetal Z32. I'm actually really regreting getting rid of it, but I really need that new throwout bearing for my clutch (as well as a new clutch kit and flywheel) :(. But yeah if you change your mind and don't want the emblem that is completely fine by me as I really would like to keep it (and this would be a good excuse for me to). :) Thanks for the inquiry.

Yes it is new. Opened but new, and only tired on the car for like 5 minutes. I forgot to mention that. :)"

I also told him that the Red Z badges were repaints by owners and tend to be made with the early style solid cast metal badges (in my experience anyway) as explained to me by HLS30 and

other members in this thread.

Also incouraged him to sign up for our club and join, seems to be a Cool Cat :)

Found another one of those orange style wheel caps on Ebay.

Looks similar to the same type of paint used on my Center Wheel Cap and the Emerald Green Fairlady Z Badge.

Maybe this is some kind of new style paint Nissan is putting out.
