Klasse Car Wax....

I had a guy tell me that Klasse car wax was the stuff to use for my Z to give it that"lasting" shine like all the wax companies claim. Has anyone in the forum used Klasse before. I am very particular about the wax that I use. I also heard that Zymol was a good one as well.

I'll let others chime in, but IME it depends on the condition of your paint, and what care your car has received in the past.

You don't really want to start using a new wax on a car that's been getting regular treatments with another formula without first removing all of the old. Conversely, if the old formula was abrasive, it's very possible that there isn't much paint left for the new wax to REALLY show it's capabilities after you remove the prior wax used.

I've heard many different brands over the years, but they all share several basic traits, some of which are that it is all dependent on the condition of your paint, how well you prepare the car for it's wax job, and HOW you wax it.

Sorry, I should have stated that my paint will be brand new. The car is in the body ahop as we speak. I just wanted to know if Klasse would be good to use for future applications. Sorry about the confusion.

I guess I'll chime in with my take on wax. After I had my car restored and painted, I let the new paint cure as, recommended, for about six month. I then decided to use just good old fashioned carnauba wax instead of anything synthetic which may contain a variety of silicones which I definitely wanted to stay away from. I use One Grand wax and only for the use of sealing out airborne impurities. My considerations may differ from yours as my car is not a daily driver, and spends most of its current incarnation in a garage under a car cover. Hope that helps with your decision.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am definately going to let my new paint cure for about six months. My new color will be charcoal gray with a black stripe on the "high rise" portion of the hood. I can't wait to get it back and drive it with glee. The new color will be a vast improvement from the factory lime green metallic. I will post some pics upon completion.

I've been through more waxes than I'd want to count ( I probably have about 6 different kinds in the garage now ). I have used the Klasse and it does seem to hold up pretty well. Didn't give the car the depth I really wanted, had a very hard looking shine for lack of a better definition. I wouldn't recommend it on old paint as it really wanted to streak on my Z. On our newer cars I've used it without the streaking problem and followed up with a coat of a carnuba to add depth.

The latest stuff I've been using is from image10finish.com It has what I think is a good combination of depth and hardness in appearance. And you can layer it up as long as you wait between the coats.

image10 - Currently my favorite, looks good even on my Z with its 15yrld Macco paint job, held up over the winter on the other cars better than anything I've used before.

Pinnacle - Used before switching to image10, lots of depth, not real clear though, I had done the cars with Pinnacle just 2 weeks before getting the image10 and it comes with a cleaner to strip old waxes. As I went around the cars the areas that I hadn't removed the wax from looked a bit hazy. I still use their polishes before putting on the image10 though.

Zaino - Liked the fact that it could be layered but it never got to the depth that the image10 does

Liquid Glass - overall happy with it, not as good as image10 in my opinion but still good.

Meguiars NXT Tech Wax - Easy to apply, average performance

Meguiars Liquid Gold - Good depth, not bad to apply once I read the instructions, rich carnuba like shine

Eagle1 Nano Wax - Nothing Special

I still want to try some of the stuff from Griots or the Omega Glaze stuff but I should really use up some of my old wax first.

Definately recommend the clay bars. I used to think dragging clay around your car was odd but it really does make the surface smooth. ( following it up with 3 different polishes doesn't hurt either ). I need to get my Z painted so it would be worth waxing again :(

I use Zymol on my 74 and it has the original paint I love it it really makes the car shine and it last a while too. The bottle says after you wax spray a light mist of water on the car and then take a chamois and dry the car. Its really looks great when done. Zymol is probably what I will always use. They sell it at autozone and advance auto. Chris. Oh and by the way my friends use it on there Porsches and it is recommenede for those cars in performance magazine. New or old paint works on my 74 orig paint and on my buddies 2005 911

There are many good brands of wax available and I think you'll get good results from any of them.

I believe the key to success/preserving your paint is HOW OFTEN you clean and wax. I use detailing clay, then polish and wax every couple of months and I also use a carnuba wax. I'd ask the supplier who painted your car when you can safely wax your new paint.

Lets see some pictures when you get the chance, it's always nice to see a freshly painted Z car.

I had my Z painted about six months ago so now I am looking into waxing her. However, if I look at the surface in the sun I can see very light scaratches here and there. They are so faint that they can only be detected unless you are looking for them. Car still looks very beautiful however.

I store my Z in a carport with a car cover. But will waxing remedy these light scratches? How can I avoid them or does every car (so it seems) eventually get them?

Like some of the rest of you, I've got a cabinet full of waxes and polishes. The Viper guys turned me onto Zaino about 9 years ago and I've used it ever since. I try others from time to time, but I seem to always come back to Zaino. My experience is you can get the depth if you put on multiple coats. I've put up to six coasts on at one time. It looks like the car is wet, slicker than snot, and lasts a good 3 months or longer.

And last but not least, it is not a was or polish so it does not scratch the paint or take off any paint when you put it on. With clear coats these days, that's important to me.
