78 280z 2+2 acceleration problems

I've been having trouble with my 280z running right, I posted a thread, and tried all of the suggestions, but I still have problems. Now when I start it up, it fires right up and idles fine. As soon as I go to give it a little gas it bogs out. If I floor it it stumbles a little, but then revs good. I crawled under to look at the fuel pump, and looked up the part #, and it is the right one, but they bypassed the fuel regulator that was back by the tank.(it was all rusted up) Could this cause it to run too rich, and flood itself out after sitting(see my other thread). Thanks for everyone's comments and advice.

I think your talking about the fuel damper. I've never had a problem with one. According to the FSM, it's purpose is to smooth out the fuel pulse. Based on that, it could possible cause problems if bypassed.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to replace that dampener, and see what happens. While I'm at it I'm changing all the hard lines and hoses, and flushing the gas tank. The lines are pretty rough looking, and corroded.

there is a part in the distributor that is called the vacuum advance that sticks and causes your car to not accelerate just spray some pb blaster down into it and that should help it

The thought of PB Blaster in an area where electrical activity takes place is kind of a scary thought. Besides, the vacuum advance assembly usually doesn't 'stick'. It fails due to the bearings being shot.

It was happening while driving. I figured out what the acceleration problem was. I took the cover off of the throttle pos. switch, and was reving it, and stuck a screwdriver between the left and middle contact, and it smoothed right out. I slightly bent the left contact so it touches the middle contact when I first start to give it gas. Now it accelerates great, nice and smooth. My only problem now is the idle staying up.(my other thread) Still haven't figured that out yet.Tried adjusting bcdd, made it better, but still not right.
