Posted May 24, 200717 yr comment_210480 Hi, I have a leak in the front seal of the transmission on my 86 300Zx, and the transmisssion mount bracket is broken. I've been told that the transmission has to come out. Is this a difficult and expensive job? Would it be better to take it to a transmission shop? If anyone has any experience with this, I'd appreciate your help very much. It was rebuilt 80,000 miles ago, and is shifting well. May 24, 200717 yr comment_210483 Hi Craig, Yep, the tranny will have to come out to replace the leaking front seal. Good time to replace the broken mount as well. You could do it yourself if your comfortable with that kind of major work. Replacing the seal is no big deal, but getting the tranny out is. My advice, take it to a shop. More money, but it should be done faster and with some kind of warranty on the repair. Much luck,Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24419-front-transmission-seal-leak/#findComment-210483 Share on other sites
