Posted May 24, 200717 yr comment_210496 Does anyone have step by step installation instructions and/or pictures for XR700 installation on a stock '71 240z? I have been to Crane's web site and have those instructions, but they are pretty vague. I've searched the archives but don't see any installation instructions, just opinions on whether or not to install this vs. petronix vs. ZX versions of EI. This is already purchased so it's going in...can always come out if it's ineffective. Thanks, Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24420-crane-fireball-xr700-installation-help-needed/ Share on other sites
May 24, 200717 yr comment_210521 Try searching for Crane XR3000 install. Member Dave Honeycutt did a nice step-by-step with pics. It is the same unit except for the electronic box and the Z uses a ballast resistor on the coil(a new one was included with the new coil I got, also a Crane). The wiring is the same. I used it to install my Crane XR700. The only problem was trying to figure out which trigger wheel to use and getting it to seat properly on the dist shaft. Good luck. It really isn't that hard. I noticed a real difference after the install...the motor revved right up to 7K without any hesitation. Cheers, Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24420-crane-fireball-xr700-installation-help-needed/#findComment-210521 Share on other sites
