Double Glasspacks as Mufflers?

Well, there won't be any updates on this idea.... the muffler guy says there aint no way you can put two glasspacks in there ( then a big story about how the spare tyre bay is in the way, how the metal goes up & down & a bunch of hand gestures...) The ricer place next door had a polished thing with two tips for $150. :(

It looks like I'll be ordering a Monza deal from BD...(engaging search function...)

What if you ran something like this glasspack its dual on one side and singal on the other couldnt you run duals into it and then put a dual tip on the singal end? I dont know that much about exhaust but wouldnt that be like an H pipe kind of thing? I know the H is usually further back but..

the guy is probably lazy or afraid. The first thing he tried to do is to convince me I should just put on the stock muffler. then he said that nothing but a stock muffler will even fit in a vertical orientation. Even a turbo-style! I know Hrududo has a Flowmster in the flat-ways, but the muffler guy just keeps saying that it won't fit.

And then today I noticed the mufler on a newer Grand Prix... :cheeky:

I've thought of this too, but my circumstance is unique as you can see. If I can find some glasspacks shorter then 10" I could make if work along my diff but they would have to be skinny. The two in the back are 12", and i could maybe fit some short Borla's if the glasspacks are too loud. I am hoping my crossover will help resonate noise.

One confusing thing that he muffler guy told me was that you can't have the exhaust tips sticking out from under the bumper, because in a collision, the muffler will get crunched ?

One reason why I'd like to replace my muffler is because the fart can does not stick out past the bumper and the bumper is turning black with soot.

BTW- I don't use a header.

I am using an old (new) thunderbird header 3/2/1 into one Dymomax ultraflo 2/1 bullet and the MSA twice pipes...

It's on a stock Auto engine, with smooth euro carbs pipes... Sound nice, what should be done to the SU? Any tricks orthe SU just self adjust to cope for the new task?????

Someone would remake that original dual exhaust, it was sold through Nissan, made by Clifford and sold through all sorts of dealers. Even had the optional megaphone replacement section. I think I bought my through Bob Sharp's parts department.

I contacted Clifford Research awhile back about the header and the exhaust system, and they had no interest in it. Maybe someone at MSA could get someone to reproduce it, instead of their current

"twice pipe"

It was loud and used two stock hangers off the diff crossmember with two glasspacks stacked going out the back......chrome tips.... Boy those were the days.

Right now I am running a Clifford header, with a Abarth muffler with twin tips out the back. Sounds ok, but it muffler will need to replaced soon, and it's not like I can get another Abarth muffler anywhere....:smoke:
