Caen Fred Posted May 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2007 You do know that we have a new President over here... (In France)How are you feeling about it? I am always curious do gauge other's point of view on certain matters! He does seem to like you a lot!You don't have to be irespectful on this one or the past to state your case, just plain, honest PERSONAL opinion! MikeW Posted May 29, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2007 I view simply it as a reaction by the people of France to some of the problems brought on by your previous governments. At least in democracies like ours the people can decide to make changes such as these. I'm am a bit surprised by the pro-US stance although I think it's more due to his economic views mirroring our capitalist system rather than an endorsement of the US itself. Hopefully it will improve the situation in your country. What is your impression?
Caen Fred Posted May 29, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 29, 2007 I never was a big fan of the past-president, a truly left winger without the guts to stand for it! Yet, as I look back I am quite respectful for his vision of foreign politic, the only thing he was any good at! Chirac was truly a man with lot of knowledge, bored by the every day bureaucratic work of the presidency!Sarkozy is truly a liberal and being so he is close to your system, but I think he will use it first for the sake of Europe, that can make sense! As for me, I want to thank him for not letting the Socialist come back again. I wish him the best, it's truly a new figure on our political theatre. A mini-Kenedy, I hope his taste for convertible Limo will pass him so! Go240Zags Posted May 30, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 30, 2007 I hope relations between our countries can be rebuilt. We have a great history with the French going all the way back to the American Revolution. Sure, we aren't always going to agree, but making the French out to be a joke "Freedom Fries" isn't helping anybody. The USA and Europe need to work together toward positive solutions to problems around the globe. I'm for America first, but we'll get more done with cooperation than with always choosing an adversarial position (on both sides). Maybe a change in our own administration as well will help us to rebuild bridges rather than being Eurocentric or Americentric and Viva le difference! Caen Fred Posted May 31, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted May 31, 2007 Does the new president drive a Z? http://www.lerapporteur.fr/post/Peugeot-607-Paladine-de-Sarkozy It's a biomass 607 limo... (only hiccup, you need the manure of 150 horses to go one mile, hence this is not an escort, it's the fuel tank). The Z are for rebels... the Gendarmes used to have Alpines Renault for highway patrols... Today they use (a lot ) Subaru WRX http://news.caradisiac.com/La-gendarmerie-casse-la-premiere-Subaru-WRX
