Hi everybody,

My name is darbji. I just bought a 1976 280Z! I did a fair amount of research on the car. And I work at AutoZone so I obviously priced some random parts and such. But I want to know anything and everything I possibly can about this car. I found her and fell IN LOVE!!! She's a gorgeous silver and black two-tone. Someone put some strange rims on her that I'm not sure if I love or hate. She's still to new to have picture of. After all, I only bought her a few hours ago. But I digress. Is there anything I should know? Anything I might be overlooking? I want to learn everything! I love my new car!!!

Welcome. As has been said here many times before rust is the most serious problem with these cars. The mechanical stuff is relatively cheap and easy. Using the search function on this site will likely find previous posts that will answer most of your questions. Be sure to post some pictures when you can.

Yes, WELCOME! I second what SportBikeMike said.... this is a fantastic place to learn about your new car. Post some pictures of your new baby soon! The archives are full of information, and you will find people here who own the same year car who are ready willing and able to assist with questions. There is a lot of knowledge among the membership here, and a great willingness to share it.

Hello and welcome! I have a 77 280, and while I am far from having done it all I was also a first time owner 3 years ago and have learned a lot. One thing I did right away was get the breaks checked out. On a car this old, there is no telling how well maintained it was so it never hurts to check. Among other things my ball joints were in dire need of replacement. Those were some safety issues I had when I first got mine, and I would suggest looked them over or getting them checked out at a shop.

Welcome to the site Darbji. I can't wait to see some pics of the car. You've definitely come to the right place for info and have already recieved some great tips. As Chris sugested, take care of the safety items first. You need to be able to stop and steer reliably if you want to keep her and yourself in one piece. Aside from that, be prepared to lighten your wallet as you get "the bug" and start making improvements and modifications to the car as time goes on. It's a true sickness that most of us here suffer from, and if you hang around long enough, you will too. :).

Welcome to the site and I am glad to see more 76-280 people joining. I really enjoy my 76, I fiddle with it almost every weekend, mine is a week end car and for fun. good luck.

You know what's amazing?!?! I woke up, closed on the loan, picked up my car and headed for work. I had owned this car for nineteen minutes, pulled over at a gas station and some one already made me an offer for it. Of course I declined... I'm in love with my new car. But all day at work people were coming in and asking about it. I wasn't expecting that much attention from it.

Welcome my friend to the show that never ends, we're so glad you could attend , step inside step inside. Enigma speaks wisely about the sickness. Prepare yourself for a journey of great magnitude and joy as your condition worsens. I hope they never find a cure, unless it's more injections of Z. Welcome the to world of Z's Darbji!

Gotta love the E. L. & P. reference! I've had my 78 for 10 years now and people still ask about it and make offers. More so than my other Datsuns. There's just something magical/mystical about the Z. Any of them.

You know, you guys were talking about rust. So I picked the car up and inspected it. And it seems that some previous owner knew that the Z cars liked to rust and tore the car apart to Rhino-line it. Everything is lined. The frame, undercarriage, backside of body panels. Everything. By the way, the frame seems flawless.

By the way, those injections of Z... I am quite addicted already. I'm going to work on getting some pics of her up soon because she gorgeous. Like I discovered the first time i sat behind the wheel, nothing compares to the beauty of the world as seen through the windshield of me Z.
