Posted June 11, 200717 yr comment_211915 some idiot (previous owner) spilled gas and let it flow on the body around the gas tank, and there is a stain/discoloration there, wondering if there is a way to remove it without repainting.when i waxed it, it did get a little better. June 11, 200717 yr comment_211919 Unless you're using a cleaner wax then waxing just adds a layer on top. I'd start out with something mild and work your way up if it doesn't work. There are various polishing and rubbing compounds.I've used the "fine cut cleaner" from Meguiars but they have plenty of products that can help you. Another option is a clay bar or wet sanding. You could start with 2000 grit wet paper without worrying about doing much damage.http://www.meguiars.com/estore/product_list.cfm?§ionname=Professional%20(Mirror%20Glaze%20Brand)%3EAuto%20Paint%20Care%3EPaint%20Cleaners/Compounds§ionID=31301 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24560-gasoline-stain/#findComment-211919 Share on other sites
