June 15, 200717 yr comment_212264 Neat Video... but... I'd rather have a spherical rotary valve head for the L24 today. Anyone have $15,000.00? It's A Ball FWIW, Carl Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24596-new-os-giken-vid/#findComment-212264 Share on other sites
June 15, 200717 yr comment_212344 That's awesome Carl! A frictionless valvetrain! Neat idea. Can't think of how to make it variable though. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24596-new-os-giken-vid/#findComment-212344 Share on other sites

Most of the tooling and casting patterns were made from hardwood, which has warped and deteriorated over the years. Remaking everything would cost a fortune, and the heads themselves would also cost a fortune per-unit. I'm afraid there are very few people who would be willing to shell out for what they would cost............. we are talking many thousands of US Dollars each ( and I mean many.I met the vice-President of O.S.GIKEN in Japan some years ago, and asked him all about it. Its clear that this is a project that they are not currently interested in reviving, and they have not got any unsold kits stashed under any workbenches anywhere either. They make some "O.S.Classic" parts for older cars ( piston kits, clutch kits etc ) but they don't have any plans to go any further than that. Giken head....Then the main difference is the O.S. Giken head is designed for, and bolts onto, the L series engine, whereas the head from the S20 will not.FWIW,Carl B.
