Installing headlights

Hey guys. I just bought this set of headlights . . .

(Ebay I know) Will, the guy who makes the headlight harness, said these are very nice and bright and make a nice difference for the price. I bought them and they are nice construction and look pretty damn clean. I was going to install them at the shop where my car is until i got there. I realized that i have no idea how to take out the old stock housings and replace them with these.

I did a search and came up with . .

Undo all the bolts on the inner fender where the splash guard is for the light. Then there will be a few more boplts that you undo and bam, the headlight housing pops right out.

But I realized . . How the heck am i going to put the new ones in? The new ones (as you can tell in the first pic on the top right) don't have any holes to screw into. They have these metal tabs that pop out and that's it. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. Are the stock ones the same way? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanx ahead of time and i will be giving you my review on them after they are installed with Will's headlight upgrade harness. Will be doing it all this weekend.

That's really all there is to it. A few bolts. I pulled mine out to see if there was anything ugly hiding behind them

Once you get the headlight bucket out, you'll see the light itself is held in by a metal ring with 3 small phillips screws....lossen the phillip screws, twist the ring carefullyand remove old headlight. Replacement is the reverse of removal...

But looking at those lights, you may have clearance issues inside the buckets. I don't think those city light sockets will fit in there without cutting or modifying the bucket.

Congrats on purchasing the same headlights that I purchased from Fantastic BuyZ. But I'm pretty sure that I was the one that told you about those. And by the way, I'm the one who Make the Headlight relay upgrade harness's for the 240Z's. (Look at my signiture below)

Anyways, There are 4 screws that hold the headlight housing onto the headlight bucket, on the inner wheel well. Remove any undercoating around the screws, unscrew them, and the whole thing will fall into your hands with a little help. Lower it towards the ground and turn it over. Looking at the light, there are 3 small screws that hold the Headlight chrome trim on. Loosen the 3 screws and twist the trim so that the screws line up with the oversized holes.

The trim comes right off and the headlight will come out easily. Unplug the headlight, grab the NEW headlight, plug it in then set it into the BUCKET and replace the chrome trim. Snug up the screws and put it all back together.

MAKE SURE THE H4 BULB IS IN THE HOUSING BEFORE YOU BOLT IT BACK UP. OR TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON BEFORE REASSEMBLY.

If you don't already have a headlight upgrade harness, NOW is the time to get one. They are only $125 and will save your Z from a melt down because you are using almost 100 watt bulbs.

They fit beautifully!!! Those are the same exact ones I have in MY Z. The bucket is plenty deep enough. And the city light plug is a soft rubber and bends easily.

Hey Arne, is Will making a headlight harness that I'm not aware of?

I'm sorry Dave. That's my bad for messing up your name. I just sent you a e-mail about the harness a little while ago.

Thanx for the detailed instructions!!! I can't tell you how much easier that is going to make the install. How may i ask did you wire up the city driving lights? Did you just put them on a switch somewhere in the car?

I've never really set up headlights except unplugging the cord, and then re-plugging the cord!
