YOYO Check this out !

The vey first GENERAL LEE Dodge Charger

(VIN #XF29H9DI936Y0) (Serial # LEE 1) has been found and restored earlier this year :) :) ! !

I'm not sure if I'm seeing the VIN tag correct but I included some photos and the Link to the website.

It would be cool if some one here knew how or know a person who can translate the VIN tag to see what options the Charger came with originally.

I know it's not Z realated but still this is good car history here :)

The first 3 pictures are from the same and very first jump, the one at the end of the openning credits!

Thats awesome I remember watching that car fly through the air, and then it hit the ground and then it was time for Genral Lee #2. John Snyder had his on e-bay and it was sold for like $1million and it turns out it was a unauthorized bid or something so it didnt sell. Those are pretty cool cars but $1million is alot. What could you do to a z with $1million? You could probably start a pilot episode for a new tv show called the Dukes of Katayama and the car could be called the General Tso oh wait thats Chinese.

Wow what a project. Looks like they would have had to replace just about everything. Dunno why they just didn't take the VIN plate off and stick it on another car. With that much work needed, the end result is probably just about the same!

Nah,.. It wouldn't be the same car.

It would be a car with a tag from the actual car that did the actual jump and IS the Originally General Lee.

Kind of like taking the Size Tag off your T-Shirt and sewing it on another claiming it was the same shirt you bowled a perfect game in.

I have to admit they did a Great Job. So good I believe anything is saveable now with the right parts including the worst of Z's.

And Yep me to!

My favorite shots besides the jumps of course were always the camera views of the front wheels as they were counter steering during the chases while drifting on those dirt roads.

The approach sequence of Lee Charging towards that creek were it does that HUGE jump in the opening credits reminds me of the same sequence when the Train crashes through Chicago Station in the Movie SILVER STREAK starring Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

I remember every day at Grandmas it was a steady line up of Dukes of Hazard and monster truck rallys with Big Foot.

You remember the good old days where trucks were actually made of heavy gauge steal and they dind't just roll over the cars they actually CRUSHED them?

Grandpa even drove the same model Ford as Big Foot with a camper hatch we used for going fissing in :classic:

AHHHH the good ol days :cheeky:

Wing, the older vins didn't tell as much of a story as the new 17 digit ones do. The older ones usually just told you what model and maybe which engine.

That is a cool story though. I wonder why they painted over the orange? Almost any car from a popular TV show or movie will be worth more than just the original car model.

I just read a Wikipedia post looking for "The First General Lee" and said he car was repainted after the jump to resemble a wrecked Richard Petty NASCAR stock car and was shown a 2nd and last time as a cameo on the a auto trailer being towed by another General Lee.

Theres a clip of that scene with other info on YouTube along with another YouTube video showing the restoration team starting the engine of the restored Lee 1 for the first time.

Type in Resurecting the First General Lee and The First General Lee on YouTube and you should find that 2nd video pretty easily.

BTW YouTube is loaded with Dukes of Hazard footage of all kinds. Theres even a 2 or 3 part series called Dukes of Hazzard / Return to Hazzard Georgia where some one goes back to Alabama with a Lee showing old show scenes of the Lee followd by the modern day locations with another Lee retracing it's steps.

Here goes a few links off top.

To go Full screen click the far right hand side box on the video control bar.

Buy or Rent the new movie DVD cause you have to

watch this Drift screen from the roof of the sky scrappers.

We're talking 3 complete uninterrupted full laps stayin sideways!
