HELP! Surging, Hesitation, Backfire on EFI

Sorry blakey, I didn't test the temp. sensor, no time. I bought a replacement sensor about a week ago, so I have one ready to go in, which I will do soon.

Now as promised, here are some pics of my handiwork. As you can see, the inline filter between the pump and the tank at the input is already looking a little dirty... interesting...

I'm tellin ya brother Matt, you are going to fight the tank demon till it's done proper. If that much made it past the screen in the tank just imagine what's still in there. The reason I say move your feed to your drain hole is you can get more of that junk out cuz it will just clog up the internal screen running the way you've got it now.

Yep, I'm going to have to lean in that direction also after seeing your filter. My suggestion about the temp sensor assumed a clean tank which is one of the first things I did when I got both the Z and the 810.

Damn... yeah I'm not likin' this at all.

That little filter will have to be a sufficient band-aid for now.

Maybe if someone has a spare tank they could sell me, I could send that one off to get turned and resealed and stuff? Otherwise the tank might have to wait until August when I go out of town for a week, and will, subsequently, not be driving the Z.

Just do what I wrote in my earlier post about moving the feed line to the drain hole. Is it a PIA to cahnge the filter when it gets dirty?, yes it is but it won't clog up so bad as to leave you stranded like it will if the internal screen clogs up solid. The reason it ran fine after it sat for an hour is all the crud settled back on the bottom of the tank without the pump suction holding it there, but one or two turns at speed and it'll start chugging again.

And at least you'll be able to enjoy your sweetie till you can afford her more major surgery. Just do it, she'll love you for it! And so will you.

  • 1 month later...

That is exactly my problem.

Dropping my Ruby off to get her Tank cleaned end of the month, new fuel pump afterwards,

while she's in the shop getting a "minor" engine rubuild :tapemouth

She straight left me stranded on the way to an interview

to be deleivery guy at Round Table Pizza LOL

I was low on gas but wasn't tripping and jus happened to be thinking "I'll

keep driving around untill the Fuel Light goes off.".

Low Gas Warning Light never came on and the power straight bleed off at a

red light 5 blocks away from my interview, and I happen to to be the guy

at the front of the intersection  .

RPM's stayed at about 1,100. When I got on the gas the Tach jus looked at me.

Floored it and still got stared at, let off the gas then floored it again and it was at this point

she crossed her hands, turned her head to the side and died on me :hurt:

Rust in my Gas Tank so bad when I changed my Fuel Filter, 91 Octane looked like Gravy....

and that was before this story occured 2 days ago :hurt: :hurt:

I drove on gravy for 2 weeks  but I gas she had enough :knockedou
