Got my engine today

My L26 is in need of a rebuild so I bought an L28 from a 75 with 70k to use until Iam done with the L26. I am ditching the EFI and using my roundtops and was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of? The engine has the N42 head and from what I have read here it seems pretty cut and dry. The swap is being done by an experienced mechanic and I have the "how to book" and the Hastings book but thought I would ask the experts here for any advise. Thanks and Ill give an update after its all back together. Chris

The engine was started and ran this year and the guy said it doesnt smoke or leak. I guess Ill know when I get it in. Anything about switching from EFI to SU I should know? The engine was pulled from a 76 not a 75. Thanks Chris.

From what I understand, an L28 is the same as an L24 and L26 but the bore and stroke are different. In any case switching to SU is no more difficult than changing the intake and exhaust manifolds out. I also plan to do an engine swap in the near future (L28ET from a 280ZX Turbo) but I will probably go through and change out the gaskets and and clean it all out before I drop it in the car. If you're pretty confident the engine you're going to use is in good shape and runs fine then I suppose all you have to do is pull your old one and drop in the new.

dished if it has the N42 head.

i thought of a few things that MIGHT throw you, but i don't think you'll have to worry about them on a '76 N42 head. on some L28 heads there is a connector on the head that you will not use. also, on later heads the boss for the mechanical fuel pump is filled. those may be moot points since you have an N42 head, though.
