Sailor Bob Posted July 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 2, 2007 I just purchased and installed a direct replacement K & N for my girl. I didn't realy bite on the hype about the additional horsepower thing, but I was impressed by it's claim for better air flow and life time service. I had to get a new filter anyway so $60 later... I didn't think about it much initially, but I'm starting to think I do see a difference in the way she pulls. (I don't work for K & N by the way) maybe a little smoother and I might be loosing my marbles but I think the exhaust note sounds a little better as well. :stupid: Anyone else got one? See a difference?
Grim Posted July 2, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 2, 2007 I have one in my jeep. There might have been a little quicker throttle response. I like the fact I can wash the filter after driving in the sand and dust. It will pay for itself in a year or two or quicker if you live in a dusty area. I swear by them Summit has them much cheaper than $60. but it's been a while . Gary

Blue Meanie Posted July 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 2, 2007 Is the K&N the same design/shape as the stock?
sblake01 Posted July 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 2, 2007 Yes they are the same shape and are designed to fit in the stock air cleaner box.
BRE-240Z Posted July 2, 2007 Share #7 Posted July 2, 2007 I went with the 'tuna can' K&N filters on my car, like the ones shown in the photo. If you go with a setup like this, you would want to install air horns.

Duffman Posted January 7, 2008 Share #9 Posted January 7, 2008 So, there are 5 hoses that go into the back of the original air box, which do I plug (if any) and which to add a push-on or separate filter? There are 2 small hoses (one from each carb), 1 big one from the manifold(?), 1 from the valve cover and 1 from the fuel line(?) or something from the engine wall.Your thoughts? I tried to search for this and didn't have any luck.

e_racer1999 Posted January 8, 2008 Share #12 Posted January 8, 2008 correct. actually, now that i think about it, the vent hose for the fuel tank (the one that's attached to the valve on the inner fender) is vented into the air
