Oem Fender?

I need a new Lt front fender for a 77 280 and was wondering if anyone has experience with aftermarket vs OEM fenders ? OEM is about $384.00 with aftermarket being about $200 plus shipping. Is the fit of OEM worth the difference? Pick and pull or parts cars are not options in the Northeast unfortunately. Thanks

The dealer does't charge shipping if U pick it up at their parts counter right? In this case the OEM would be only slightly more expensive. I'd take OEM any day if it was in the budget.

I got scammed trying to buy online fenders once. Check 'em out at http://www.ripoffreport.com/ if you do decide to but online. Ended up saving my fenders because of money lost in the scam.:(

Jim;

I would look at another dealer close to you. I bought a pair of fenders from a Northwest dealer a year ago and paid a little less then your quoted price for the pair. The OEM and after markets prices were with in ten dollars of each other.

I was a bit suprised in the gap between prices. For $250 I'll scrap the fender but at $400 I'll put the time in to fix the old one. I'll make some calls this week to another dealer. Thanks

I ended up purchasing a passenger side fender for the #248 rebuild from Victoria British (can't bring myself to call them Blackdragon). It was significantly less expensive than the price I was given on an OEM fender, actually close to the cost of what ZBarn was telling me. It arrived nicely packaged and looked to be nice. It wasn't until we got it on the car that we found that it required a little "massaging" to fit the door/body lines nicely.

Still, not a bad choice.

FWIW,
