What the heck are carter pins? Is this the official name for the spindle pins or those little wedges that hold them in place?

I think he simply means 'cotter' pins.

If you wanted a different opinion - put it on eBay and see what you can get. Set a higher reserve so you don't get ripped. Judging by the interest in your car (mine included), $2500 seems too low.

If you see the utter garbage out on eBay and what they are getting for these cars, you'd be shocked.

Before you mentioned the $2500 figure, I think I'd have been willing to offer $4000 for it - had it been fairly local to me. The big issue is transportation. Since it's not a runner now, transporting it and all the parts will be a chore unless you can find a local buyer. I think this might hold down any eBay action as well.
