Posted July 12, 200717 yr comment_214883 I just trailered this '72 ITS 240-Z back to ABQ from San Jose, CA. Looking thru the SCCA log book, it was raced in the SF Region from 1994 thru 2001. Anyone recognize it? I'd love to hear anything you may know about it. July 12, 200717 yr comment_214894 Yeah, that's Coop's old car. It went end-over-end 6 times at Sears Point then burned. He sold it to Mark who put it hard into the pit wall at Thunderhill when they ran an event backwards. He ended up cutting the car in half and welding on a new front. Mark sold it to Tom K who used it as a circle track/demolition derby car for 3 years. Looks a lot nicer then the last time I saw it... Just kidding... July 12, 200717 yr comment_214906 Looks like it was run at Laguna Seca. That tailpipe is designed to exit the exhaust away from where the sound measuring station is. LS has very strict sound requirements. Also Dando's is in the San Jose area, which is fairly close to LS. July 12, 200717 yr Author comment_214924 Leafing thru the Log Book, I see quite a few Laguna Seca entries, as well as Thunder Hill, and SPIR (Not sure what that stands for). Most of the entries just say Regional or Double Regional. July 12, 200717 yr Author comment_214933 Wow, thanks Chris! I bought it from the person that bought it from Bruce. I knew his first name was Bruce, but didn't know his last name. I hope he's open to some questions from the new owner... December 4, 200816 yr comment_268070 I've just died laughing and hey ..... I only rolled three times - Doh!Actually, that is Bruce Frederick's car that I used to race against. It was always nicely prepared and had no problems that I can recall. It had a chrome-molly cage if I remember right. I offered to buy it at one time but it had already been sold.Coop Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24865-any-racers-recognize-this-240-z/#findComment-268070 Share on other sites
