Road & Track Magazine March 1977

Is anybody familiar with the article in Road & Track Magazine, March 1977, that tests the 5-speed 280Z? I saw one at a car show/flea market, and it will probably still be there on Friday.

It's not a 78 280Z, but it's mostly the same car.

I may still have that issue in my archives, that's about when I stopped sponging off my Dad and got my own subscription. Since I have never thrown out a copy, if I received that issue, it'll still be in my closet. (Much to my wife's dismay.) I'll look later tonight.

Thyats what I'm talking about!

Let the dismay continue :D

Just about right up my ally too as Rubys' a '77.

I'll have to see if I can find that issue on Ebay somewhere, seems to be alot of

'77 related stuff turning up in the forum lately :)

I do have that issue. The article is a whole whopping one page long. There is a single B&W picture from the left rear quarter, probably so that you can see the '5 speed' emblem on the hatch. (The car also has rear window louvers.)

The article is pretty short and to the point. It says the 5 speed makes the car more economical, but doesn't make it quieter. It also outlines the other changes for '77 .

Anyway, there's really not a lot to it. If you must possess absolutely everything 280Z, go ahead and pick it up. But it's not a must-have in my opinion.

A friend of mine just gave me a copy of Car & Driver that he found in his parents basement from 1970. In it there is what must be one of the first ads for the 240Z. I say that because the wording was something like "Introducing a new kind of economy car" or something close to that. Its a 2 page add with a huge pic of the 240 and then in the lower right corner it shows the whole line with prices, like $3500 for a new 240z. Very cool to see that ad. The issue is in very good condition.
