xray Posted July 20, 2007 Share #13 Posted July 20, 2007 I've been searching for fuel pumps, and have noted several will show similar pressure readings, but at different flow rates (gph)......which flow rate is preferable for SU in our displacement range? Similar flow rate for triples (I think it should be maybe a little higher..)?Thanks,Steve
strangethursday Posted July 20, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted July 20, 2007 With any carbs (maybe not with a returnless system) I'd think you'd want the flow rate as high as possible while keeping the pressure right. Although don't hold me to that
strangethursday Posted July 23, 2007 Author Share #15 Posted July 23, 2007 Ok so I got a spectre regulator & gauge on now & the car runs fine with no excess fuel spillin out. My new issue is this. When I have the regulator set at 4psi, the gauge reads about 2psi or less. When I have it set at 5.5psi, it reads about 3psi. Don't kno how accurate it is but the car seems to like it there. I'll just leave it until I get a decent regulator & gauge. Found Jeg's own gauge for $18 but what about a regulator? I want 1 with a return but, any recomendations? Mark Maras Posted March 7, 2018 Share #17 Posted March 7, 2018 You're looking at the wrong end. picture, Dr. of Ears, Nose and Throat NOT Dr. of Proctology. Get back under the hood where the problem is. If you have doubts about the fuel pump?s, do a pressure and volume test and then get back to the floats. Don't keep buying new pumps.
Patcon Posted March 8, 2018 Share #18 Posted March 8, 2018 @jalexquijano A word of advise. You are down to just a few advisors here. One main one! If you fail to heed his advise in a timely manner, right away and all the way, he may quit trying too!!!!

But, like so much sound advice that's been offered to solve the Panamanian Zs problems over the last several years, my guess is that it will NOT be heeded. And that's a shame. The carb float problem has been diagnosed to death and the advice has been pretty much ignored. I'll be interested to see how much longer people will be willing to help. Mark Maras Posted March 8, 2018 Share #20 Posted March 8, 2018 C'mon @jalexquijano, prove em wrong. Check the nozzles.
jalexquijano Posted March 8, 2018 Share #21 Posted March 8, 2018 Still checking. By the way i would like to know if a 5/16 inch is the right hose to connect to the fuel rail that goes to the carbs???? Its not a snug as tight at is should be but at least its not dripping any fuel after i tight it with a precision clamp.
Mark Maras Posted March 8, 2018 Share #22 Posted March 8, 2018 If it's not leaking, I'd leave it alone.
jalexquijano Posted March 8, 2018 Share #23 Posted March 8, 2018 Not leaking just wondering if sliding a 5/16 hose is the correct measurement.
Mark Maras Posted March 8, 2018 Share #24 Posted March 8, 2018 Due to the diameter of the tube, you're left with the option of trying to force a 1/4" hose on or tightly clamp a 5/16". The 5/16" looks fine to me.
