Posted July 20, 200717 yr comment_215727 considering what the passenger door hinge looks like, i wonder how much "surface" rust there is on the rest of the car. let alone what the undercoating might be covering up.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Datsun-240Z-797_W0QQitemZ330148598459QQihZ014QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemJust something to check before buying it at even the low buy it now price. July 20, 200717 yr comment_215728 "I am seeling this car is because my daughter is getting married in May 08."Man, I wonder what takes a year to plan for with only $2800? Maybe this guy has an inside track on an IPO or something and wants quick cash to invest for a phenomenal return---like Hillary Cattle Futures or something. July 20, 200717 yr comment_215733 Immediate thought is that the car needs to be taken apart, body fix and paint job, and put back together. For around $16,000, I'll bet, one could just clean it up and put it back together and have it worth $20k. That's not a bad price at all. The crack-free dash is worth half. July 20, 200717 yr comment_215744 I see what you mean about the hinge. Yikes! At least the guy was straight forward enough to pull up the carpets and show the floor. I bet those frame rails are gonna need some love too! $2,800 not that bad for a 700 project.Clinton cattle futures? That is too freakin funny! Maybe Martha Stewart's got a hot tip? July 20, 200717 yr comment_215760 Yeah, gotta wonder why he needs that sum now and is using it as justification for the sale. Any old port in the storm, eh? July 21, 200717 yr comment_215864 Someone just bought it using the buy it now price ...Obviously an inexperienced Ebay seller. He shouldn't have had such a low BIN price for a 3-digit Series One car. I agree with Jason, the buyer got a good deal. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24953-ebay-240-797/#findComment-215864 Share on other sites
July 22, 200717 yr comment_216001 Definitely limited eBay experience...he should have set the reserve at 3K and let it run up. It's amazing how many buyers and sellers don't get the dynamic of auctions. It appeared to be a good deal from my perspective. July 22, 200717 yr comment_216002 The buyer may of figured that out. We may see it relisted that way in a few months. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/24953-ebay-240-797/#findComment-216002 Share on other sites
