Heeey, im 19 and was originally a big computer nerd. After looking around for a long time trying to find a decent car, I saw a bronze Z sitting by a little house out in the country... ( has a good eye for vehicle recognization ) Finally I decided to just waltz up there and ask them if they wanted to sell it.. and to my luck, they said yes. I went there two days later with 700 dollars in my hand and left there driving a z.. best 700 dollars I have ever spent i'd say. :P

I have always wanted an old Z, I remember seeing them in video games and in magazines and such and wanted one, I never thought i'd ever get one though. =]

As for the specs on the car..

She has 100k miles, runs and drives just fine, needed a new Master cylinder and Power booster, got some surface rust patches on the rear quarter panel on each side, right by the window edge.. a sick spot i'd say, and has pretty nasty interior.. well.. its tan.. and I hate taaaan.

The stuff I did was radiator flush, trans flush, oil change, new spark plugs, wires.. etc. new ignition coil, new 02 sensor.. and since the air box was screwed up I just got a cone filter for like 15 bucks.

L28 non turbo 2+2 1981ZX 3 speed auto. ( Wish it was manual )

i'll get some pictures up soon, and hopefully you guys can help me with and/or give me some good ideas and what I should do with this beast.

Thanks

Oh definetly, now I'm debating what path performance wise I want to go... :P

For going Non turbo what would you say some good bang for the buck would be? I know im getting port and polish , intake, and exhaust... I seen a few 240sx throttlebody kits but haven't seen anything mentioned of it on here.. is it a crap mod? freaking MAF on my 280 is annoying me.

welcome! and as bill said, best performance mod for you will be a 5 speed. not too expensive (figure around $500 for parts) and will make the car MUCH more enjoyable!

don't forget to check out hybridz.org as well. there is a lot of support for performance modifications over there.

I wanted to get this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1979-Datsun-280ZX-Engine-and-Transmission_W0QQitemZ130135994432QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item130135994432

But considering I wouldn't be able to get down to florida in time...

That would give me a Really nice chance to go through that motor and trans while I could still drive my current Z, and once all is said and done just have to drop it in.

*shrugs* Anyone live in florida? xD
