Was there ever a no kidding Speed Shop Shinohara?

I know there are versions of the 510 that are SSS "prepped" but was there ever an outside organization known as Speed Shop Shinohara and if so, what was the extent of their contribution to Datsun "history"?

Don't know about that but the 510 wasn't the only 'SSS' that Datsun ever made. The 411 series SSS was the only model available in the US but over seas, that trim level was used on many other models. I won't go into a list since it really doesn't answer your question and it would be a fairly long list.

Yes, there was a small 'street tuning' shop called 'Speed Shop Shinohara' - but there was/is absolutely no connection between that business and Nissan's 'SSS' ( Super Sports Sedan ) spec models.

Mr Shinohara would have still been in Kindergarten when the 411 SSS Bluebird debuted in May 1965.

411 SSS followed on from the 1200 'SS' ( Sports Sedan ) of March 1964.
