Summer 07 issue of Nissan Sport

Recommended Posts

Hsl30.com, Nissan has always paid for the banquet at the national conventions. Somewhere around $25,000 (I would guess the money is used for other things as well). I know that has been the case in the past, so I can't say for sure that it is going to happen this year. And if its not true then people have been feeding me a load of bull for a long time. Doesn't the ZCCA control those funds so that deposits can be made for the different venues that need to be paid way in advance.

I also remember Nissan giving $2k for an event held in Florida a few years back. I think they also helped sponsor the ZDayZ event. Again I could be wrong, but thats what I thought I heard.

I have all the issues related to z cars from the defunct z car mag, sportz and now nissan sport(cept for the current issue, still waiting). z car mag went under due to lack of subscribers mostly. When sportz came out i had no second thoughts about subscribing with them. When my renewal comes up for nissan sport i will renew that as well.

There are no other magazines that have consistant articles for z cars. I may not follow the build up of any thing other than the s30 and the s130, but at least there is a quality magazine out there that does.

p.s. art, am I included in the blog about people that have helped out with your 240z project car? ;-)

Art,

I know Nissan has been actively and financially involved in the conventions/meets in the past, but my understanding is that they have stopped. Only Nissan and the top four in the ZCCA(and those close to them) would know for sure.

Nissan USA does support the national convention of the ZCCA and $25,000 is the rumored amount. This money is controled by the ZCCA and funneled to the local convention team. The exact details of Daytona, I do not know as I am not involved. However, in past years, NISMO has given support in addition to Nissan USA. To the best of my knowledge local Nissan dealer support is directly related to the efforts of the local convention team. Great full page ad in Nissan Sport, BTW. My thanks for supporting the Daytona convention.

I belong to the BMW Car Club of America and the Porsche Club of America as well as the 356 registry. All three organizations give me a magazine subscription with my membership and I get a newsletter from my local chapters - one is an e-mail newsletter. The magazines are absolutely top notch. It wasn't until I joined the 350Z Club of Florida that I got a magazine with my membership. Their membership dues are only $5 more than the other club I belong to which provides nothing. Both club's annual dues are very close to the dues I pay for BMW and Porsche as well as what you guys have quoted in the previous posts. I think it is a right of membership to get a club publication and I am very pleased to see Nissan Sport fill that void. ZCCA, are you listening?

Zbane, pm me your full name and mailing address and I will check into it. If I find something went wrong I will mail you out an issue the moment I find out.

240ZMan, we do some shootouts once in a while, and yes the advertisers get mad at us if they don't finish first. They look at it as a contest, we look at it as choices.

I should be in the process of comparing some headers for the 240Z. I think there are about five of them. It takes some time to setup since I would do all the changes myself between each dyno. I would probably test one a week in the fall when the tempertures are more consistant. I would also like to use the same muffler and exhaust pipe. The only way to do that is to have a connector piece that would connect to the header and the beginning of the exhaust pipe. That could mean fabricating up to five different connectors. With help from Mark Boudoucies, this should be able to happen. Mark, I will call you to get this rolling. The other thing I need to do is get the 240Z on the road. I'm only a couple of hours away from that.

I also plan to continue my tire sizing for the Z. In the winter issue I gave detailed specs on 15" tires. I will finish it up with 14", 16" and 17" tires so that people can figure out exactly what they want and how it will effect their speedometer readings.

e_racer1999, its not that Nissan disowns the S30. Its just hard for them to continue to support a car that has been out of production for close to 30 years. Yes they support Z events around the country which is a good thing. And the fact that new owners don't recognize/respect the early Z is because when they walk into a showroom, chances are the salesman of today don't truely understand the History behind the Z. Most of their knowledge starts and ends with the Z32 in terms of history since it was the last Z in production. For Nissan Sport, creating awareness is not only meant for the Z car owner, new or old or soon to be, but for the people who also sell the product.

Just let me know Art.

Maybe you can kick the rocky mountain chapter board members in the bum and have them support the new amateur track in colorado. :-D

Mine arrived sometime between Thursday and Saturday. Not much help but hey, I was too busy between work and working on the car to check the mail. I haven't even had a chance to look at the new mag yet but I have to say that the physical qualities of the mag are excellent and I hope that never changes.

As a long and dedicated Toyota owner, I haven't really paid much attention to Nissan or it's products since it dropped the Datsun name like a cheap whore. I was always a fan of the Z, 510 and the early Datsun pickups and felt like the product quality and the personality was lost after that. Even if it isn't true, that was always my perception. That said, things have come a long way since then, and I really appreciate the coverage of other vehicles. However, my cars are finally all paid off so I probably won't be buying another one anytime soon, and never again will I buy a new car. However, I'm really starting to like the G35 Sedan for a posh, reliable commuter, which would probably be a more responsible choice than the 2002 BMW M5 I've been drooling over.

At any rate, I will be renewing my subscription, if for no other reason than I have something better than Vanity Fair to read when I'm sitting on the can. ;)
