August 1, 200717 yr comment_217250 I like all kinds of music. In the area of country, I guess the bands I like are really more crossover country/rock/pop types like ZZTop, Atlanta Rhthym Section, Lynryd Skynard, Molly Hatchett, Marshall Tucker, Black Crowes(don't know if they really fit the catagory), etc.I've never heard of these bands being referred to as "country" or "pop" or crossover bands (except the last one) - I've never heard them referred to as anything other than "southern rock" bands wherever I lived. August 2, 200717 yr comment_217288 I'm with you, that's about as close to country as I like to get. Not a big fan of both kinds of music "Country and Western" . When I was in college I got a job with event security and heard/saw/worked some concerts like ZZ Top in Spokane. 38 Special opened for them. So much of the newer country music sounds like everything else today it's getting hard to tell the difference. Less twang and slide guitar. I do kind of get sentimental for country when I hear some of the old songs like "Guitars and Cadillacs" that used to play on the jukebox at my late father's tavern when I worked for him. hillbilly music? August 5, 200717 yr Author comment_217483 No Will,Nicki the Kid's not my type at all. Far to skinny for me. I've always preferred women with a more rounded figure. (I can imagine the sort of pic "Our Bill's" likely to post in response to that comment).Just to put you all out of your misery, (like a half ounce of lead behind the ear), my original question was made quite innocently, to see if there were any firm, died in the wool, fair dinkum country music fans among the membership who might be interested in hearing some Oz country music. Here in Central Queensland, we have what is quite likely the best Country music station in the Land of Oz. While there's a lot of American stuff, there's quite a lot of our brand of music as well. So, if anyone is interested, log onto;www.kixfm.netfollow the prompts and ENJOY. Most of our blokes and sheilas "sing as they speak", without the fake American accent, and some of the girls can give Faith Hill a run for the money in the looks category. Now, ... I know this is a disappointment to some and for that I appologise but, in future, I do sincerely promise to be the extremely subtle, tricky, bullshit artist that I am, worthy of suspicion and devious in the extreme, :devious: hence my favorite smilie.Rick.:devious::devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25057-country-music/?&page=3#findComment-217483 Share on other sites

August 5, 200717 yr comment_217502 Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash are classic and certainly need to be included in any country list. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25057-country-music/?&page=3#findComment-217502 Share on other sites
