Go240Zags Posted July 31, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 31, 2007 I've had four or five early 240Z - Series I consoles, but have never seen one with this lever/switch on the right hand side like in this eBay auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190134726678&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting Any ideas? - it could be a P.O. add on, but looks almost OEM installed. The winner, by the way, got a great deal if the ashtray is in as good of shape as it looks. Getting the ashtray alone for $105 with shipping is a bargain considering what the things are going for lately. I was watching, but snoozed. Got good consoles, just would like a spare ashtray - just in case.
Arne Posted July 31, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 31, 2007 It's a power antenna switch. Some PO likely moved it there when they installed an aftermarket radio. It appears to be the normal factory '70-71 switch, just relocated.
Mike B Posted July 31, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 31, 2007 It looks like someone relocated the series one radio antenna switch to the console so they could add an aftermarket radio.

Zedrally Posted August 1, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 1, 2007 The mounting posistion is correct for HS-30 (1973) models (top side of console). Is this another difference between HLS & HS models?edit: model year

The HLS 30 did not have that type of switch, it was on the faceplate of the radio, and more akin to a serrated toggle than a rocker style. This was the same style that I had on my S30 (Fairlady Z).It is the first time I have seen that style switch mounted there!

None of the US S30's had the antenna switch on the console, to the best of my knowledge.
Zedrally Posted August 1, 2007 Share #10 Posted August 1, 2007 I'll add a bit more and hope it hasn't been a PO modification as the switch was mounted opposite to the one shown in the photo (post#1).I've always assumed it was factory as a PO would hav emounted it on the Drivers side (RHS on HS-30) not LHS?Hope Alan's radar is on? Go240Zags Posted August 1, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted August 1, 2007 Thanks for all the responses, don't know why I didn't think antenna switch. Looks like it was well done. I'll probably go aftermarket stereo so might consider that location. G
