Not too concerned about 0-60mph times, rather who can exicute the next set of twisties the quickest. These are sports cars.....intended for going around curves in style. If I had put as much effort and $$$ into the engine as I have in the suspension and brakes, my '70' would certainly be quicker in a straight line!LOL

This is exactly my view, also. Gary

I'd like more straight line speed myself, but that's what an LS1 is for. :devious:

Anyone have an extra $6k laying around?

Next on the list after paint is the suspension, I've got a set of springs and swaybars, now I need bushings and struts. After that, wheels & tires. Maybe I'll work on getting some more speed out of her after that.

...if you want to compare 0-60 and 1/4 times, HybridZ is the place to do it, but be warned, you'll have some tough competition.

However I was looking on youtube last night at the 08 Altima and the guy did three runs in a coupe c/w 6 speed, 3.5 - turned up 5.93 in one run.

Wow, not too bad. I am sure that with a more skilled driver that it can pull a even better time. Getting pretty close to the 350z/G35.

I have seen places all over the web say 8.0s or 8.7s for a 240z. I am kinda hoping that it is closer to the 8.0s range. I should be finding out in the next month or so. Though once I am complete done with her, she should be anywhere from 5.5s to 6.0s. Though the mods that I am doing on her are more for cornering as I am not really a straight line guy. There isn't much skill involved, and you really get to see how good the driver is around the corners.

So many times have I been in a poo poo ride compared to others, and be WAY far behind in a straight line, but once when get to the bends, I could so easily pass them if we were not on public roads.

On a 2 mile stretch or road, I got the same time as my friend. I was in a Accord 135hp and he was in his Supra TT with 300hp. On the short straight away he hit 110mph and I barely hit 80mph, but my skills are better then his around cornering and we pulled the same lap time.

My 240 is a bit sluggish, even though it has the 4.11 rear - I'd guess it's in the 8.5 second range.

I did drag my 1976 280Z back in the day - it had some goodies too, nothing extravagent but I ran a few 15.7-15.8 1/4 mile times.

Now, my current daily driver - Lexus GS400 - is more of a beast. I get on it all the time, it easily does 0-60 5.8 seconds or so.

i'll tell you when i have a working speedo!

Ditto on that, Jason. Look at it this way though, you'll never get a speeding ticket if you never go faster than Zero, even in top gear with foot to the floor:stupid: Now I know that would never fly in court, but it does get your passengers thinking...

My buddy Norm Simpers got 12.9 sec/1/4mile with bored dual SU's and a diesel crank. (2.9L N/A I believe) He was on a tight budget and built his engine using junkyard parts. Norm has a neat way of "willing" his cars to go faster. He also swapped 5 speed parts to attain best 1/4mi times.

Here's what a blown clutch got him and a timeslip with 12.9@104mph on it. He dropped his tranny at speed when the clutch blew. Amazingly he got to keep all of his toes!:)
