Does anyone have headlight covers on a silver Z?

I'm curious to know what they look like on a silver one. I've been thinking about getting them and would like to know what they look like. I haven't been able to find any pics. If some one have them and could post a pic, I would appreciate it very much.

Darbji:

I pulled up this search in the Photo Gallery:

http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?mcats=all&si=headlight+covers&what=allfields&name=&when=0&whenterm=&condition=and

And although 3 pages came up, there was only one silver Z in the bunch....and then it was a side shot (page two). My car is on page 3 (Gold Z straight front shot with JDM covers).

You might try other variations of the search and see if you find what you're looking for in case no one posts a pic.

I guess you have to really like headlight covers. I have them on my 78. I ocaisionally have to remove them to clean out the dust and dirt that gets underneath. I once cracked one by tightening one of the screws too tightly, and luckilly, MSA has a single passenger side cover that they sold me as a real reasonable price as a replacement. Initially, the brackets that came with them were mounted with the double side tape that came with them. Over time, the adhesive got weak and I ended up mounting the brackets with small self tapping screws. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have them. And get me started on that damn bra I've got on it.!

A guy from Louisiana who was at the Mitty this year used strong magnets on the back side of his headlight covers to simply hold them in place without the need for glue or tape or screw holes in the headlight buckets. His covers were painted body color and this allowed him to easily drive the car legally at night but then attach the covers for the show.

I like the headlight covers I am getting some for my Z. Does anyone know where to get the "real ones" with the chrome trim? I know they are pricey but I like those. The ones at MSA will be fine but I thought if I could get the chrome I would.

Cool idea. Wouldn't want to do that with the REAL covers!!!

No longer available new. Be prepared to spend big bucks on eBay.

I'm a bit torn on whether or not I like them. They do clean the front of the car up, but the increased maintenance (as mentioned by Stephen) would be a drag.

On the other hand, on our way to the Canby show earlier this summer I met up with a group of 6 or 7 240Zs for the final 10 miles, and three (including mine) were red. Mine was the only red one without covers, and I kinda liked that too.

I seem to remember someone posted that they were making reproductions. I wonder what happened with that? I am eventually doing some ZG stuff spoiler, fender mirrors etc and I thought the headlight covers looked nice with that kind of look. Do the ones at MSA require as much maintanance? For $69 I think I will end up with those.
