Posted August 8, 200717 yr comment_217778 just wanted to make sure that this was a bad crack, not just a "no that's normal" like I'm hoping for :cross-eye Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25140-cracked-manifold/ Share on other sites

August 8, 200717 yr comment_217791 Personally - I wouldn't trust any fracture in a cast iron part... far easier to replace it now...FWIW,Carl B. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25140-cracked-manifold/#findComment-217791 Share on other sites
August 8, 200717 yr comment_217796 It may not be cracked all the way through since I dont see any black exhaust deposits around the crack, but it will probably only get worse. Maybe its the Z-gods way of telling you it needs a nice set of headers Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25140-cracked-manifold/#findComment-217796 Share on other sites

August 8, 200717 yr Author comment_217800 Maybe its the Z-gods way of telling you it needs a nice set of headers I've been going over post after post on headers. I had some pacesetter ones years ago that wouldn't stop leaking for anything so that has tainted my view of them a bit. From what I've read MSA has fixed the flange thickness problem on theirs and people seem to think they are decent. But since I don't plan on any other performance modifications the popular opinion seems to be it will actual hurt performance. So buying a new manifold (they show still available at one site) looks more appealing at times.
