Posted August 8, 200717 yr comment_217827 My power windows dont work and the person I bought the car from said it was probubly a fuse because they went out at the same time.I have looked in the manual and I there isnt a fuse that is for the power windows. The person that sold me my car also had put in a new radio, and took it out and put in the original radio/tape before he sold it to me. The cigarette lighter and tape player dont work at all, and the antenna isnt connected, so the radio is hardly functional. Could the wiring to the windows have something to do with the radio? Like does the wiring for the power windows go through that general area? Also, someone mentioned that the windows may work on some kind of vaccum system, or shared some kind of wiring, and that if one window stops working, both will go out. Is this true? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25144-power-windows-in-an-83-280-zx/ Share on other sites
August 8, 200717 yr comment_217829 i Suggest you to check this link http://carfiche.com/manuals022/cars/ there is the FSM for the 82, right is not available but could be at any moment, that one could help you. When i bought mine the original radio was disconnected and the windows did work fine, i think you should go in other way to find the problem Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25144-power-windows-in-an-83-280-zx/#findComment-217829 Share on other sites
August 8, 200717 yr comment_217835 Don't know much about ZX's but here's a 1982 power window diagram and trouble shooting algorithm. Should be the same as an 83. August 8, 200717 yr comment_217839 There is a circuit breaker in the ZX, most probably it is the culprit!it looks like a small(1-1.5 inch) metal box with two spade terminals coming out-every time I have had that issue, it was the cause. It is in the passenger footwell. I'll see if I can't find the appropriate page from a ZX FSM for you.WIll Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25144-power-windows-in-an-83-280-zx/#findComment-217839 Share on other sites

August 9, 200717 yr comment_217875 Yep, that one-sorry for the delay, my keyboard went kafluey-I also suffered from memory issues, the circuit breaker has stud connections for ring terminals, not spade terminals. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25144-power-windows-in-an-83-280-zx/#findComment-217875 Share on other sites

August 11, 200717 yr Author comment_218118 I looked for the metal box, and all I see is plastic things with wires coming out. No metal boxes at all. Is it hidden behind the plastic things?I tried to tak a picture of what I see, but all teh cameras in my house are dead, and we dont seem to keep batteries around here.
