Power windows in an '83 280 zx

My power windows dont work and the person I bought the car from said it was probubly a fuse because they went out at the same time.

I have looked in the manual and I there isnt a fuse that is for the power windows.

The person that sold me my car also had put in a new radio, and took it out and put in the original radio/tape before he sold it to me. The cigarette lighter and tape player dont work at all, and the antenna isnt connected, so the radio is hardly functional.

Could the wiring to the windows have something to do with the radio? Like does the wiring for the power windows go through that general area?

Also, someone mentioned that the windows may work on some kind of vaccum system, or shared some kind of wiring, and that if one window stops working, both will go out. Is this true?

i Suggest you to check this link http://carfiche.com/manuals022/cars/ there is the FSM for the 82, right is not available but could be at any moment, that one could help you. When i bought mine the original radio was disconnected and the windows did work fine, i think you should go in other way to find the problem

There is a circuit breaker in the ZX, most probably it is the culprit!

it looks like a small(1-1.5 inch) metal box with two spade terminals coming out-every time I have had that issue, it was the cause. It is in the passenger footwell. I'll see if I can't find the appropriate page from a ZX FSM for you.

I looked for the metal box, and all I see is plastic things with wires coming out. No metal boxes at all.

Is it hidden behind the plastic things?

I tried to tak a picture of what I see, but all teh cameras in my house are dead, and we dont seem to keep batteries around here.
